| Dr.Frank's XR take II CK Fly V1
Hello, after running my Berg for awhile now and some personal circumstances i sold it But RC Crawling is like a virus, once you get infected... ...so i will build me a new car for 2012. I'm short of time and so i'll give the XR a second chance. It has a lot of advantages and meanwhile there are some realy good aftermarket parts. Still waiting for some parts but i'm collecting some for now and can make a start: The box contains parts for two front axles and a bit more. Her's a short list of what i get so far: VP Chubs VP Wraith knuckles VP Rear lock outs VP Upper link mounts VP Upper axle housing VP Servo armor RC4WD Gears RC4WD Housings and motor plates Axial Front CVD's Axial Lower axle housings Axial SCX10 shocks Losi Springs Dr.Frank XR/Wraith steering arms Dr.Frank Ti steering rod Dr.Frank Ti rear straight axles Dr.Frank Mini-T shock retainer and SCX shock cups ...more will follow... I'll run 2 front axles and the "only" thing i do by my own were the Ti straights for the rear front: I turned the rear lock outs a bit for more clearance and drilled new mounting holes: I clocked the chubs one klich more backwards to get more caster. Therefore the Wraith knuckles are a perfect fit: The servoe position will be changed the "Egressor" way, but next year: That's were i'm now: ...some goodies are still on the way to good old Germany and i've to wait til next year to go on with building What chassis should i take, the Rockshow SS or "Q's" ahh "J's" special agent equipment: ...to be continued... Happy new year to everyone Greetings Frank Last edited by Harley; 11-10-2012 at 01:18 PM. |

I may be biased considering i don't like bodyless and i just got a S-A, but, i would go with the S-A. I run a front axle in the rear and the chassis works great set up this way. The only differences from krawlfreaks set up is the external limiters on the rear shock have to go on the inside and the rear lower links have to be made a little longer.

Nice looking build DR Frank!!!! Looks like all the right ingredients for a recipe of WHOOP ASS Can you explain to me the benefits of rotating the C Hubs up more than stock allows, I have seen this done before but havnt had time to follow through with the reasoning.

Your sig says your a Chaotic team driver, surprised your not running their chassis. I would go with the SECRET AGENT for sure, it's the latest in innovation. |

Can't wait Dr. Frank, good parts list I'm sure it will be great. I have to say I used to dislike the bodiless until I built one and I'll never go back to a body on a crawler ever again. They even look more realistic. |

Are those Dr. frank titanium rear straight axles for the front housing something thats available?? I would like to do a similar build on my rear axle!! Those axles shafts are the only thing setting me back at this point that i know of. Let me know if im overlooking something. If yours arent available do know of any that are? That seems to be that best route to take before dropping some cheddar on VP upper axle halves Last edited by 001Hulk; 01-01-2012 at 08:09 AM. |

During the past weeks it made some progress: ...as you can see, carbon, but no agent (BTW agent is at 49g, this one is at 52g). Guess which chassis it is I made several tries to run all of the electronics on the front axle, but i didn't like it. So i did a quite clean "standard" wiring job with ESC, RX and BEC on the skid. To get rid of battery scraping, i put it behind the motor on a Rowdy Racing mount. The actual setup is very close to my Berg, but has a bit more max ground clerance (100mm front of the skid and 110mm under the rear). Ride high is on 85mm in the front and 95mm in the back. Weight is at 2055g RTR (without wheel or knuckle weights) and it wil get some extra weights for a better balance. ...to be continued... Well since your asking for a guess on the chassis I will go ahead and guess that's highfly's carbon fiber work?? Highfly seems to be the German CF master... Looks super clean frank....like all your builds. |

Progress: Made some Wraight knuckle weights, 110g (3,88oz) each, so it's one 2217g (4lbs14oz) RTR now Greetings Frank |

The weights look phenominal. I'm especially digging the taper on the back side Now you just need to make some thick brass inner SLW lock rings with a coutnerbore for the hardware Nad Why are you keeping the chassis under wraps? I wanna see what it looks like. |
