What did you do to/with your Yeti today?

I drove it, one of the rear upper links (SSD) came off and ripped a hole in a Hyrax tire. That sucked big time. I have rod ends, so the link is a quick fix, but the tire is a different matter.





Edit: I guess I can't really blame the links, it was probably just a case of really, really bad luck. New tires ordered, gives me a spare for the next puncture.

The SSD links do have a problem though, in that you might need to overtighten them quite a lot to get the bent rod ends in the right direction. I think that is why the rod ends broke loose in the first place, due me having to put too much strain on the plastic threads.

RC tires can be patched. If you lost the missing bit, you could cut a piece from an old/unused tire, cut it to size, and use CA glue to glue it in place. Proline makes good stuff, or Locktite 404, or similar.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about patching after I placed the order. I'll try to fix it, but since I will eventually build a Bomber, I'll need the tires anyway.

Fixed a puncture. Well, actually three of them, due to bad luck with a rear upper links coming off and spearing the tire. I patched it on both inside and outside. Not pretty, but should be good enough.

Took out the goolrc 3800 and put in a neu castle 1512 2650 from eBay.. .was only £29 so suspect is a fake. Well for a fake it goes bloody well. Here is pic for sizes... 2650, 3660 3800gool and a castle 1410 3800

I took it out bashing and trying to drift it on the frozen sea. Lots of fun on 3S!

I also noticed that one of the rear upper links (SSD aluminium) is bent out of shape, making it lean slightly to the right.

First attempt at paint. So I tried using break cleaner to get the RTR paint scheme off... Did NOT fair so well on the lexan at all. It cracked and started coming apart. So... being that I am stubborn as hell, I painted the outside. Probably won’t last long but whatevs, I’m not putting it in a car show.
