was doing some experimenting with Bandicam last night, seeing if i could capture in windowed mode, and also how it would interact with my video editing software. anyway just used the replay from mosport, set it to OGs bumper cam and let it fly while i was testing it all.

quality came out crap so ive got some more tinkering to do. but it was a cool angle and got some shots of Cloaked, myself, and a bit of Yankee.
thought id throw it up.

^^Too bad FH4 will still have shit FFB support. I'd buy the Forza games tomorrow if they fixed that one thing.

That's a really cool replay angle Cory. Really shows just how well iRacing calculates every little thing, body roll, suspension movement and loading/unloading, etc. iRacing gets a lot of hate due to the cost, but the racing is second to none IMHO. And after upgrading my wheel, I'm finally happy with the default FFB, whereas I used to greatly prefer R3E.

I too love the grass chunks! I not only bought it, I still play it too. There isn't another sim on the market that offers real time day/night cycles and weather. Until they do, PC2 has them all beat in that department. I dig it for offline single player and the career mode, which no other sim has either. AC made a poor attempt at that, and it's 100% shit.

Yeah I'm not sure if I can even handle a Direct Drive base, my current CSW V2 has enough power to beat me up no problem

Well, I was a bit off on price with my guess of $1299 for the big base, they priced it at $1499. If it gets good reviews, I feel like that's an OK (not great, but not terrible) price and here's why;

3 year warranty, longest of any DD setup, and you can buy a 5 year plan

Full ecosystem support, not a bunch of DIY stuff to get wheels/button boxes

console support (doesn't matter to me, but that's HUGE for them)

Torque specs almost comparable to the big boys (18nm holding, 24nm peak)

On wheel programming and profiles, no need to open a program. I had no idea how great this was until I had it. Seriously, it's awesome.

The OLED display, and the info it will give you

The safety key system for locking out high torque values. I have friends who bring their kids over to play, and I always turn my wheel WAY down, like 10-20% max. I would love if this can be customized as to the percentage of force it will output, and over ride any input they have. Kids are smart these days, my buddies son already knows how to get into the wheel menu and monkey with it. LOL

All that being said, they botched the launch big time IMHO. I have the attention span of a field mouse, just give me the deets and don't make me watch your poorly done launch video. Also, the way they did the DD1 base auction thing was pretty shitty. Just give us a price and a date. Come on Fanatec, you're better than this.

I also want some encoder specs if I'm buying a DD setup. Or a formula to convert refresh rate to encoder sensitivity.

All in all, I have zero regrets going with the CSW 2.5 base, I love my wheel and it's time tested at this point.

Short answer to that title, No...... but its cool anyway.

Actually they didn't build a sim rig at all they just built a cage in which they've placed a pre build rig inside of.

The angle of those screens look pretty extreme, I have no triple screen experience so I dont know if thats too much or not, anyone know?

I just fired that up last weekend, it is an amazing and under rated title. They really have an great sound engine too which is usually what draws me to play the game.

I rearranged my tiny room so I can now use my sim rig much easier as well as having a little hobby space without having to clean up and move one or the other.

Its on retractable caster wheels so now I just push it in front of my monitor and set it on the floor when I want to use it

You can see my shift knob collection in the last pic, I made all of the wooden ones. I have some materials to make more knobs for Fanatec shifters (and Hondas as well) if anyone is interested. I've tried to offer them to some folks but not many are interested in wood. I was just after getting different shapes and heights for different era's of cars.

^^That's a DAMN nice setup man! I'd be down for a shift knob if I ever replace my shifter for a Fanatec. You mind sharing where you found retractable caster wheels at?

Thanks! RC crawling is new and shiny for me still so I've been ignoring sim racing a bit too much so I'm trying to get back in the groove.

I got the casters on Amazon a few years back, probably not the best source and it looks like they've added $25 to the price since I got them https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Product name: FOOTMASTER GDR-60F-BLK-U

They also make smaller and lower capacity versions and non ratcheting version (but the ratcheting is priceless if you move it often), I probably went a bit overkill on the capacity and I'm not sure how to calculate the load, its rated at 550 lbs and I'm using 4 of them, does that mean i have 2200 lb capacity, I assumed not and that it stays at 550 but I dont really know
