What's CBS construction? Cement/brick/stone? That's a guess....

Funny how there are different types of "structural" designs depending on where you are at in the US.

We use ply wood very sparingly I spose

Looks great though, looks even better you have managed to blend the old and new so well
We have lots of rain up here (65-70 inches a year) it gets up around 100 in the summer and into the teens in the winter so there are tons of codes that keep structures dry warm and comfortable throughout the year. Plywood is under $20 a sheet and OSB is $12 so there's not a big enough difference in cost to make me use an inferior product. There's something to be said for using quality materials when you're going to live there for the next 20-30 years.

I'm pretty excited with how well it blends in with the existing house. Thanks!

I've been painting a bit. This is the color I painted the family room yesterday. It's getting repainted tomorrow, too blue.

The backsplash tile came in today. It's going to be perfect. Looks like someone wants a piece of my teriyaki beef stick

Nice color choices. Here's where I'd personally fall flat on my face. I've never been able to work out the final details of a construction project such as these.

Yer doggie looks like he's saying " Are we f'n done yet?"

Got most of the laundry room done.

Been working on window trim and the built in shelves.

Hardwoods are in (Madrone) and two coats of Bona Traffic.

Upstairs bedroom is all trimmed out and closet doors done.

My basement shop is a mess already......

Got the carpet installed last week!

Also finished the trim and closet doors in the family room.

I've also been working on organizing my new RC shop. Lots of boxes of junk to go through.

One other thing I did was converted my horizontal band saw to a vertical bench top saw. Got it rewired too.

Finishing the laundry room is this weekends project.

Wow, not sure that it's a million dollar home (or even half that) but it's all mine, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

Well, the appraiser was here last week and gave me a list of things I had to finish before he'd approve the place.

Spent all weekend (about 30 hours) finishing it up. Removed a section of wall/railing and built some more steel rail.

Small section on far right.

Made the top stair tread and landing, sanded, sealed and one coat of finish.

Finished the backsplash, built the base for the washer and dryer (still need to make the kick plate) and got everything hooked up.

Outstanding! You should be proud. Did you have a pro carpet cleaner do this, or is it a rental unit? One of my ventures of 30 years is carpet cleaning and building maintenance. Here is my personal truck, one of three.
Oh to be young again! Could a, should a, done so much more. Hey, I'm HAPPYish.

This is the new part of the house and it's brand new carpet. The installers just vacuumed it before they left. In 15 years of living in our house, we've never had our carpets cleaned. The carpet installers said the old carpet was in really good shape for 15 years old, especially since we have 4 kids and a dog.

Awesome thread....thanks for sharing! Love the beefy construction
You may have inspired me to do a build thread of our new house. We started building in feburary and are putting the final touches on now. Should be done before the end of June.

Sweet! I'm starting the landscaping Friday. Bringing the John Deere excavator home, I have to put in a French drain, some irrigation pipes and moving 15 tons of boulders.

Excellent results Tim it looks like "Better Homes and Gardens" for sure. It's something you'll enjoy for many years to come as a family. Hang in there finishing every last detail is always hardest after months of hard work.

Oh Aaron, you know if I had the room I'd be all over that! I'd have monthly comps and TTC's without leaving my yard. Maybe some day....

Thanks Norm! Still a lot to do for sure, but I'm already enjoying it. I feel like I have to start working the minute I get home from my regular job but I'll just sit down and watch a show on the DVR. Kinda nice not being "under the gun". Just waiting for our refinance to go through so we can buy some furniture, finish the railing on the stairs, and do some landscaping. Should have my basement woodworking shop up and running next week too. Super excited about that.
