Well, damnit - I like gettin' likes and I's likes givin' likes... I like posts that are helpful, humorous, or those that contain schweet-ness. It sure don't hurt nobody to like 'em a bit. |

This forum can be brought back to life with some dedication to it. There is still no central blog website dedicated to Crawler news. Manufacturers still know RcCrawler is the central hub, and the forum can take advantage of that. Additionally, there is no central hub for event organization and if admins were put in place to monitor this website could be that again. Instead of event brite and facebook. With some good coding the photobucket lost images could be resurrected to bring content back in the older posts. Awarding contributing members, offering giveaways and a reason to come to this forum is what it needs. Right now, none of those reasons exist. I've offered to be apart of these positive changes and all my messages went unanswered. |

With allllllll the avenues now (IE facebook, craigslist, ebay, RPP, Amain, boom racing, etc) people aren't going to come here and pay for the star... its not like it was 10+ years ago when there wasn't a "crawler" frame available and if you wanted something you had to get it from here or from a vendor from here... If you open the BST, people will come here to buy, and if they are buying there is a chance they will also contribute to the forum then as well...granted there is a chance they wont but that's a risk I think the place should be taking At this point, whats the point of buying a star here? There is no more 12 days of xmas, which was probably one of the biggest reasons. There is no vendor giveaways anymore...yet there is on Facebook and other forums. Sure buying a star will allow you to post pics, but since people aren't doing build threads whats the point right?? Or maybe, if you open the BST they'll buy the star to post their pics there I have Jason's cell, I honestly wasn't sure if it was still the same so I opted to just send him a Facebook message...oh the irony! I guess only time will tell. What I can say is at this point, if things don't change its only going to further decline IMO... Personally for me, taking pics, resizing them, typing out a post and sharing where the build is and what stuff I am using and how I am doing it etc only to receive 1 or 2 likes with zero other interaction is getting old. A forum is suppose to have involvement, its suppose to have a thread with replies... Like I stated earlier, imagine if replying was turned off and the like button was only used...where do you think it would be then? | |

| Re: RCC's slow demise? I didn't mean for my comment to be negative towards him, he always seems to have a good attitude and is helpful when people are stuck and trying to figure out an answer to a problem. It just hits me as a bit strange when I get a like from a line in a 5 year old thread. Maybe that's his thing, I have no idea. No harm, no foul. |

Start Rambling: Things just aren't the way they were back then! = You can't stop the future but you can adapt to it as much as reasonably possible. Facebook! = Falls under the first complaint, nothing we can really do about a site trying to siphon the souls of its users and spreading itself to every person on Earth. Star costs are too high! = I agree, plus without the giveaway this year my green star is basically useless outside of having my PMs. I do like having an avatar but that's obviously not a big deal to most. Vendor stars are obviously just too damn high considering the only new vendor I can think of in recent memory is ProModeler and I give props to John for interacting with his new clientele, but outside of him how many vendors are there that aren't older members? The like button is killing interaction! = I agree but mainly disagree. I think it's nice to like an old thread without dredging it to the front page, where newbs inevitably ask questions that go unanswered by an OP that hasn't posted for years. Perhaps the real problem is that people just don't post as much as they used to? I don't think removing the like button is going to lead to this sudden boom of interaction again. I'll hang around here as long as it's up but won't renew my star this year since I don't see the point right now. I think there are some things that can change for sure and the forums still have the advantage of being a knowledge repository vs. instant gratification service, but in the end the owners have to eventually step up and do something or just let things stagnate. /end ramble |
