From the looks of things at the 1:05 mark, I'm guessing that the BMW rider died on impact.

Completely missed that caption, and actually feel a bit relieved to know that info. I though for sure that the BMW rider was a hunk of road kill the way he was spread out and not moving.

I'll be honest, I'm amazed that the guy that went Superman off the Suzuki survived too. The way he flew then landed, I thought he was a goner!

That's a little display of high blood pressure. That's why a lot of those dudes don't live long and their heart gives out.

That was early in the event. Hafthor (The Mountain in GoT) lifted 1041lbs (472kg) for the world record. Did it smooth and HELD IT for a 5 count.

It's that much more impressive given the extra height he has over most of the competitors and the amount of work it takes to lift the weight that additional distance, even if it is only inches.

When i was in my early 20ties, 6 foot 3 like now, and 55 Kg, i dead lifted 150 Kg no problem, i even think 170 may have been possible ( did several reps with 150 )

Pretty decent for a person that pretty much looked like a inmate of Buchenwald KZ camp, i have not lifted since then and now kneeling for a minute i have to get a grip of something or i cant get my 120 Kg up to standing tall again.
The creeks and pops my knees make some times can be heard feets away.

At least they were wearing their leathers and helmets, that could have ground the hell out of them if not.

Before everyone craps all over that guy's build, he's just a kid (19!), and when I talked to him he was fully aware of what he had built and its limitations.

He really was a nice, intelligent and well-spoken young man. I had my Ascender with me and he asked me all sorts of questions about it, we had a great little chat!

I looked up the shop he works at (he built it himself!) and found this intense news story about it:

Teen's death inspires a garage haven for young people - KXAN
