^^^ watching the guy collapse near the end of the video - not sure if he survived.

There is the usual back-and-forth in the comments, some say he did make it - others not.

Truly an unfortunate decision on his part to make that particular move...

He lacked confidence and the right control on his bike.
Those 80cc puppets are hopeless bikes too.

#1 - don't pass on the right

#2 - don't ride in the gutter

#3 - don't be moving into the blind spot of another vehicle

All of those contributed.

The bike is a non-issue when ridden correctly.

I went for about 8 years without a car, rode motorcycles of all types ranging from a 50cc 2-stroke scooter to a 650cc sportbike - every day to work and back, year-round.

Never did anything quite as stupid and dangerous as that rider!

Ours is a right hand drive and a right side overtake so who knows what it is in the video.

Low cc bikes are terrible while overtaking another vehicle. They lack the power to swiftly overtake increasing risk.

The rider had the will to overtake, but his judgement was that of a fearfull rider. He tried to create more distance between himself and the truck leading to him scratching the sidewall and falling under the tire.

I have lived in countries where one drives on the other side of the road, Indonesia - for example.

The points I listed are common knowledge for any reasonably experienced motorcyclist.

He attempted to pass in the gutter.

What side of the road people overtake on is only valid when they actually have a lane to do so!

He made a possibly terminally stupid move.

The fact that his scooter had a small engine is completely irrelevant.

I rode in heavy traffic daily on a 50cc Yamaha BWS scooter (Zuma in the USA) before moving on to 650cc bikes from BMW, Suzuki, Honda, then Suzuki, and yet another Suzuki over the span of many years.

I took (and passed) the advanced motorcyclist course to better my skills.

Years before that, when I was in the military I rode a Honda 80cc scooter, and for a time after my discharge, a Puch moped (talk about SLOW!)...

Yes, you CAN ride slow motorized vehicles safely in traffic, just as you can ride a bicycle - you merely need to be aware of their limitations and the legalities of doing such a thing.

Everything HE did on his two-wheeled conveyance was wrong - why are you arguing the semantics of it?

Most of the comments (for the video) that I read said that he didn't survive.

Such overtakes are very common in crowded countries except for getting killed while doing so.

Whatever circumstances suit your countries roads does not necessarily suit other countries roads.

"Very common" doesn't make them smart or safe overtaking moves, on ANY motorized or non-motorized vehicle.

I'll guarantee there is a high percentage of people dying or become severely injured while doing so.

And, with that I'm done pounding my head against the brick wall that is your lack of logic while discussing this topic.

Don't tell me about logic.I WAS and am aware that its unsafe overtaking (common sense which does not need explanation yet you were at it all this while).Sadly, it is what it is and happens and will happen every day in highly populated countries regardless of what you think.

That sailor was sleeping on job. Reversing and then moving ahead like nothing happened just proves that.
