People are treating this like the Black Plague. It's not. It's like the flu on steroids. I'm really not concerned about this. My wife has informed me that I need to stop picking my nose. Oh the things we do to make our wives happy. LOL LOL!

This is a very long article, but it's very well put together, and appears to be a very good analysis to very real data. It's not exactly painting a happy picture, but it appears to be pointing a likely one.

I'm trying to decide if I should "out" my "condition" to work and face possible discrimination behind closed doors to ask to work from home, with a doctor's note, or just suck it up and gamble...

we are working from home on Monday.
because apparently the USN thinks a virus hates Mondays as much as we do?

oh but i was volunteered to come in to open the building for our students who we apparently don't give a damn about keeping healthy.

honestly i am of the "why is everyone freaking out over the flu" camp.
we did send one of our guys home though. because he went to medical with a cough and sniffles. they told him "come back later we are too busy with sick people right now".
our director said "EFF THAT. GO HOME NOW." good man.

While it might not affect you that much directly, I think the idea is to prevent the more elderly and vulnerable around you from suffering that could possibly be a lot more serious.

This is very true. I didn't mean to sound insensitive.

thanks! Will you still pay me when I get fired?

I think we are overreacting towards this disease, but I appreciate it. It would not be good for me to get this disease and why not stop the world for 2 weeks to reduce the spread?

Take this with a grain of salt given that this is CNN, but this is the crap that pisses me off...

This is just fear mongering to get web traffic, nothing else. These ass-hats are making this virus sound like it is a contagious nuclear bomb that will kill you instantly. No doubt, it is highly contagious, but the simple fact is 80% of the people who get this barely have symptoms. This is just making stupid scared people more stupid and scared. And seriously, I am glad I bought the big pack of TP three weeks ago. TP hording, WTF? Again, this is stupid scared people, and most of which I am sure think of The View as "good TV".

I do agree with some of the steps that have been taken to curb the spread.
• Cancel the NBA season, sure, can't see why they didn't do this years ago, but now is as good of time as any (goes for all pro sports).
• Travel restriction... Sure, makes sense. And, it has finally gotten my wife to stop talking about taking a cruise (this is a win-win).
• Telling everyone to wash their hand regularly, as if the nasty frackers shouldn't have been doing it all along.
• Advising people not to go to work sick... Why do we need a pandemic to get this point across?
• The stock market... They have been saying for a while there was going to be a correction, now is as good as time as any.
• Colleges going to 100% online... Well, I am in Idaho, and I go to school in Arizona, so I guess I was ahead of the curve on that one.

What words in that picture make any single part of your statement remotely true? Besides the fact that it’s CNN and you’re clearly biased against them.

If you don't see it, then there is no point in explaining it to you.

I am not just biased against CNN, I am biased against Fox, MSNBC, The BBC, and all of the other giant media businesses that claim to report the news when all they are doing is just pushing a political agenda. Even though it is part of CNN, I do like HLN in the mornings when I am getting ready for work, Robin Meade is easy on the eyes at 4AM. And, if there is nothing else on, HLN also runs non-stop Forensic Files the rest of the time.

This alcoholic virus is closing the world down for a few days(month's maybe), we've(I've) been through a few DEADLY viruses(still here) in the past, and these people(media/society or whoever) is making it way out of proportion.

I haven't heard about no killings yet,in do time,people died over a Popeyes chicken sandwich,now this,WOW!

On another note, a psychiatrist said this might be population control. I kinda believe that. Just my opinion tho.

Funny how the DJs gets affected over a virus.

Disneyland closing ,monster jam, nba, a local crawling event, baseball, all taking a break from this sickness.
It's a trip tho.

I decided to return, for one final comment.

To all you 'naysayers', what do you say now? You thought I was "over-reacting"...yet what I said is starting to come to be. I'm not saying this to "prove" I was right, as I'd MUCH prefer to have been wrong. Honestly, I wish I were wrong, especially considering that people in my line of work could not only be greatly affected, but could be among the first to find themselves without a job. Again, yes, the media could be considered to be a major cause of the current (and worsening) apprising...but, as we've learned from other 'situations' (ex. the Samsung Galaxy Note 7), "the media" controls a considerable amount of 'power', including a LOT of things related to our lives...like it, or not.

~ More peace, love, laughter & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place

I don't remember anything shutting down on this scale over ANY phone, except production of said phone. MSM has gone off the deep end though.

I fully believe diseases are Mother Nature's way of population control. Nature is strong and resilient and it has a way of balancing everything out on its own. I don't think you need to be a shrink or a doctor to see that.
