HiTec 7950 or Futaba BLS157 (I believe).
Both are "standard sized" servos, lots of torque.

I prefer HiTec and it makes keeping good arms easy since they all have the same spline count.
Yes, get a decent servo arm, Golden Horizons at a minimum.

I am running a BR-XL and a JR DS8711, can I use the internal bec and set it with the cc software, or do I need to run a separate one?

I have been running the savox for a month now. Much better than the hitec in my opinion. And the 300+ ounces its rated at throws my bully around much better than the 400+ oz of the hitec.

Honestly i wont go back to hitec. Yes they have good customer service, but a cheaper product in my opinion.

I do NOT believe you can set ANY internal BEC output voltage...."it is what it is".....

With that servo, you are WELL over my "rule of thumb" that states, "when over ~200inoz, you need an external BEC".
A BR-XL is better than most for an internal BEC, but everything has it's limits.

Yes, others have gone past that value, but ~98% have issues when doing so.
Try it if you like.

high tec is a far supperior servo to the savox IMO ive ran them side by side and on the same rig even and the high tech always comes out on top. the savox does not have an instant response and does not always steer when or where you want it to go. i have beat my high tec to hell and back again and have never had a problem. i cant say the same for my savox. 1 burnt motor and 2 sets of gears stripped.

Thank you for the info. I don't think I will go ahead and try.....that's why I ask you guys. I will take experience over trial and error when talking about $100+ items any day. I am trying to put together this crawler for my first time 2.2 MOA build, and though I don't mind doing my research (actually I like it) it is nice to get a straight up answer every once and awhile, so THANK YOU

just got me a high tec 5995 and another cc bec. i had it turned down to 90* rotation for my rear stear. for the price i am more than happy with the servo. lots of power and keeps the rear wheels straight when im not using the rear steer. great bang for the buck... much better then the savox 1268 that i was going to use.

that's not bad for a savox. you can still grab up an equal high tec servo for cheaper. i have tried a number of the savox servos and was dis sattisfied by all. high tec is a much better performer and you will get more out of the servo. plus if you strip a gear in the savox you have to buy a $35 set of gears as they do not cover them under warranty. high tec does no questions asked. much better servo with much better customer service. but if you are set on the savox that is the servo to get.

Hitec 7950, or a 7980 if you REALLY want some torque!

Has anyone tried Fitec servos?

I was about the buy a Hitec HS-5646WP servo when I spotted they have a waterproof model as well.

Digital | Fitec RC Model CO., LTD.
They claim that their entire line of standard size of digital servos are waterproof.

I did the whole thing of trying the TowerPros a couple years ago and of course got burned. So I have stuck with Hitec since.

And it seems like they are typical eastern copy of an established product....
ie. The name, Fitec vs. Hitec and their symbol vs. Hitec's.

Lots of them on Ebay around the $35 shipped. Moderate scaler torque and waterproof.

For me & my son, yes. We run ~6 HiTec servo's with a few spares. In general they have done fine for us.

We run HiTec partly because any issues are easy to deal with. Other countries may be harder, so, keep that in mind.

I have heard of a few out of country service repairs. All saying less than 5 weeks turn around time, and usps says allow up to 3 weeks delivery time. So thats actually faster than expected. This was a while ago, so not sure now. If waiting isnt a big deal then the HiTec is the deffinate servo of choice.

Hi I have a question, I talked with RPP hobby about a steering servo for my Trail Honcho upgrade build, and he recommended the Hitec 7955TG, and said it would would work with my stock electronics. So I bought it thinking I could just swap out my stock servo with it, and use the stock servo for my new VP Hurtz dig. But now after researching here a bit it seems my stock axial esc might not be up to the task. So will I need a new ESC to run these servos?

Thanks

You would probably want to run the 7955 off a cc bec. The dig servo should be fine with stock esc.
