I bought the 1060 a few months ago. I needed a esc cheap at the time for my tf2 so gave it a try. Its been real good to me. I will buy another if/when i need it. Drag brake will lock the wheels in 1st on steep rock and barely rolls when in 2nd gear.

I'm thinking about buying 2 of these for a budget MOA berg build. I was wondering on how well the drag brake holds? I'm looking for it to hold without rolling at all. The rig weight will be about 6 lbs.

Do I need and external BEC with this ESc, or since its 5v there´s no need?

My setup is stock motor (maverick scout) and a 4,8v-6,6v servo

One more thing, Im using a 3cell lipo do I need the buzer to let me now when the lipo is running out, our does the ESC have low voltage cut off?

Best regards, And a Happy New Year

no it has lipo cut off so you don't have to worry about it just make sure the jumper is put into the lipo position and not the nimh position.

Picked up a Hobbywing QUICRUN 1060 BRUSHED ESC for $22 new.
Seems good so far & works well. In FWD/REV mode it turns on drag-brake.
Had to dial the EPA & Expo curve to get a smoother trigger, but I'm picky.

Probably stupid question but could just 1 of these run an MOA? (Madtorque for the son, and stock ESC just crapped out)

I found the other ESC that can be a direct replacement, but still wondering what would happen if you hooked up 2 motors to the WP 1060?

hobbywing makes a dual motor esc its the wp860 that will be the best option for you.

It depends of turn on motors and voltage u r running on. I have tryed both 1x 1060 and 2x 1060 and 1x 860 dual on MOA, and i prefer 2x 1060. 1x 1060 can easy run a 55-45t motor on 2s, but I tryed 55t on 3s and ESC got hot fast. If you use 2x 1060 you can run almost any motor on both 2 and 3s, and you get dig also. A 860 dua is a good option if u r not so consernd about dig, that ESC is a very capable brushed ESC. it it is for a 2 channel radio for a kid i would recomend the 860 dual.

Thanks,
I ordered 2x1060 and 1x860 I'll be able to experiment with both.

How's the internal bec on both of these? (Got the kiddo a rear steer kit for it and a little worried it won't power 2 servo's well!?!)

2A at 5VDC is not good enough to run one high torque servo IMO. It is my speculation that most ESC failures are the internal BEC. A 10A external BEC is the way to go with 2 servos. I found that 2 Savox "High Torque" WP servos will brown out a 10A CC BEC and a HiTec 7950 will set one on fire occasionally. Seen it in person.

I just ordered one of the WP 1060 units for my AX10 rig. I am hoping the drag brake is better than the even cheaper eBay unit it will replace. Everything I've read about the 1060 makes it seem like the obvious choice for a broke ass RC addict like myself

I hope I'm not being really stupid...

How do you program for the drag brake / enable it?

Is it just a case of pulling the jumper so the ESC is stuck in F/R mode only? I'm a bit worried about how safe the gears will be in my CC01 with this setup though?

yes just moving the jumpers will allow the options of forward only, forward w/double tap reverse and crawler mode which is forward w/ instant reverse and 100% drag brake

Just got one for my sons rig, nice looking little ESC. The Hobbywing in my exo is a beast so I'm hoping this will work just fine for a no frills scaler.
