16t should be a fine start, the 540L is more motor than the 1410. Racers tune for the track wheelspeed without overtemp @5 or 7 minutes, if you aren’t actually racing on the same track and setup it won’t help to go off the same gearing.

I had a question on the Puller series of brushed motors, have they been replaced by the Magnum motors? I was think about trying out a lighter motor in my next build and the brushed Puller motors seemed like they'd be a good fit. And what is the difference between the Puller 400 and the 400T? Is that like the "Pro" version like with your other brushed motors? Last edited by HumboldtEF; 11-09-2018 at 05:40 PM. |

Not replaced, just ran out of puller 400 and 500 cans for a few weeks, they are all "Pro" hand wound quality. The 400T part number includes options that our driving team prefers to have, T for Team edition.

I'm going to try the Revolver in my Losi CC. With the Sidewinder 4 ESC do I need to run an external BEC for a HiTec HS-7955TG steering servo?

Oh, they have figured it out, just look at the MambaX line. I'd guess it would add a little to the price of the SW4, and I'd bet that the majority of that esc's target market is indifferent to the BEC's output since a Traxxas Slash/Stampede/Rustler/etc rtr servo runs fine on 5v/2a, so they opted to cheap out there to stay at a price point? ... or, they have no problem selling $20-$40 external BEC's, so why change it? I'm with ya though, I thought I was being a smart guy going with the MicroX for better packaging, but by the time I added the CC BEC, it's pretty much the same size, and only ~$20 cheaper than just going with the MambaX. Honestly, they made the MambaX for our application, so I really have no room to complain since the option was there. |

It has more to do with wanting to hit a price point than wanting to sell accessories. I was trying to get them to make it a 3A BEC instead of a 2A but they didn't think that adding the extra dollar to BOM cost to it would result in more sales. The fact that the Sidewinder 4 works so well with the revolver motor was never our intended market for it. The sidewinder 4 is intended to be an entry level upgrade for 1/10th bashing RTRs that come with a brushed or low quality brushless system. We never actually tested it in a crawler. We knew our 2.02 firmware was good at running sensorless motors, but we never even checked that it was as good as it is. We just wanted to make it a worthy upgrade from the Sidewinder 3. We have the 20amp BEC from the XLX that we could probably fit into the Micro-X(case would have to be taller), but it would double the cost of the Micro-X. Most decisions are made via price points and not on 'what accessories can we sell with this?" Any accessories we sell are intended for the 10% of users that need them, everyone else would rather have a less expensive ESC. Last edited by robert@castle; 11-12-2018 at 02:39 PM.

Is there a rx on the market that can actually cope with a power hungry servo and an internal bec turned up to 7.5v ? Or does it have to be an external bec to make it safe so it doesn’t kill the rx ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You need to make sure the RX takes whatever voltage you want and the ESC can supply the amps Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Makes sense though, if you run enough power through that little receiver, conceivable it could burn it out. On advice here I got the MambaX with a standard Spektrum 4ch, and HH high-volt servo. No issues at 6V, it's as fast and powerful as I could want in a Bomber. The Spektrum SRS4210 says: Voltage Range: 3.5-9.6V But no rating for amp flow-thru. I set my bec's so I can run 6v led's and controllers. For comp and no lighting then as high as your servo could use makes sense.

That’s interesting to hear ! I’ll have to investigate with my setup Im ashamed to say Iv been very busy lately and there gathering dust lol I just remember the savox 1210 sg even when turned up to 6v being pretty weak in my rock Rey on 7.4 2’s * And I’m sure I’d get brown outs aswell it would annoy me a lot Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
