Agreed!

I really would like that Sedona shoulder though, IMO that is the secret recipe to the Sedona.

Thinking out loud.... it would be cool to have a Sedona with the Jconcepts size so you could cut it all but the shoulders off and then stick a VooDoo center on. Actually just a Sedona in the Jconcepts size in some softer and harder compounds would be great too! Actually..... how about a Sedona that measures dead on at 6"? Maybe I will have to make those.

With the dize, it seems like it would be cool to check out a actual 6" tire. If 5.5" seems huge, I can only imagine a 6" tire

Wow, you got pretty crazy narrow with the Fauxvers, as I call em. I got a few pacs on some but I just sanded all the side lugs off to narrow them, it made a big difference in width. Not as narrow as yours obviously. They are definately bigger than the VooDoos, mine measure out at 6". So far I have been quite impressed with these tires.

Have you settled on foams yet? What are you using to get them to 6"?

I'm using Nova 1.9 TSL single stage inners wrapped in P.L. memory outers. I find the Nova outers to be a bit bouncier than the P.L.s. I also wash the P.L. foams with hot water, let em soak it up, squeeze it out, repeat multiple times. After doing this repeatedly softens them a bit and makes them a lot less temp sensitive. IMO

It's all a matter of perspective, I bet clowns think they're cool.

There is definitely a benefit to a larger tire, IMO.

7yrs ago? What type of car was it? The best of the best was a shaft driven, maybe AX10?

I would guess a couple of things have changed since then. I can see not wanting to push a heavy chassis/trans up higher but I think we are at the point where weight is getting so low, its possible to start running bigger tires. I could be wrong.

For sure!

My "monsterous" Jconcets measure out to 5.5", if yours measure out to 6" and we both ran our tires in the back, that would in the same ball park as you running a 12.75" wheelbase where mine is 12.5"! To me, thats crazy! Now all I can think about is when I would run my soft foams in the short Sedonas. I dont know what the diameter would have been... but you could have had up to .75" extra wheelbase on me? Nuts!

Changes in what we run would certainly affect everything along the way. It has affected motors at every step and so tires shouldn't be any different. Originally, many drivers hated 3 slot skewed arms because they didn't have enough drag, and there was a short period of split mags (4 mag) being favored as the in-between choice. By the time I brought 5 slot to the table, the rigs were light enough that previously "poor" drag was sufficient. Now, comp guys don't really run much else except skewed 5 slot, even short stack motors still have enough drag.

Maybe clown shoes will become the next biggest thing

The old rules said 12.5 wheel base - not maximum.

I remember trucks with 12.5" wheelbases growing over an inch to 13.5" was not uncommon.

With a larger tire you gain axle/diff clearance as well as the chassis clearance. The chassis can be lowered back to regular or original clearance by running a shorter shock or fiddling with shock mounting positions obviously.

Sorry, I thought you were pushing 80yrs old or so, guessing youre closer to 70?

What did you do with the tires? If you still have them, you should send them over!

I like what you've done to the tires!
And i learned last week that some guys in Portugal cut of all of the side lugs of their Sedonas. They persist that it gives better grip. Uhh....

Ugh. I hate to see trucks with mismatched tires. Please tell me you are going to run 4 of these new tires.

They look good. I might have to try a set. Although I think I'd rather shave them narrow versus cutting them up.

Have any videos of them yet?
