Wow, I've yet to find a decent priced ano place in Michigan. Looking forward to your findings.

Would love to get some stuff done - just not Farmer PANK.

Nope, just nightmare before Christmas

All to be hard anodized black, with what I hope to be a flat finish

I wasn't aware there was a difference in the coatings until one of the guys in the shop showed me how tuff the hard coat was. Needles to say I was very impressed. I will see in 3 days how they turn out

Flat finish on parts in raw aluminum will give flat color in anodizing. The more polished the aluminum is the shinier the anodizing becomes

Hard coat adds a decent thickness, not just regular anodize. No where near powder coat, but you might be team dremeling some parts to get them to fit after hard coat.

Nabil, doesn't hard coat, since its really not a true anodize actually, do a cover up of the surface?

From how I was explain hard coat anodizing it is not just a color on the surface, not a powder coat. Its almost like a modified version of both.

Type III anodizing is just a thicker oxide layer VS regular anodizing. Typically 2 to 3 thousands thick, so you may have fitment issues when they come back. Its about 6 times thicker than regular ano'd for just looks, but it depends on who does the work and what there standards are. Surface finish will still affect the look, but not as much as a thin coat. The best anodized work I have was a set of polished rims that were coated red and black. Both look like a really amazing gloss powdercoat.

Can't wait to see how they turn out! I bet it will look pretty dang swank!

Well I opted out of the hard coat After a call from the shop owner he stressed the fact that the tolerences could be off and he has had small parts like these just basically disintegrate. I guess the guy who told me about the hard coat let those facts slip his mind....So with all that being said at least it's better than paint

I've heard colors don't work that well with Type III either... don't think that would matter if you are doing it just black though but still...

The parts won't disintegrate unless they are so corroded that there isn't any structural parent material left.

If you think having hard anodizing is going to effect the assemble-ability of these parts then you're giving the MFG's WAY too much credit for the tolerances their parts are made to.

Finally had a chance to get back to my rig after finishing up my buddy Money Mike's rig It's all ready to go except for setting up the c's, link/shock mounts, and try to figure out the steering. Oh and I still need to shim the 300's. Once I'm happy with all of that I will get to the 3/16" solid al uppers. Here's a few picks of the progress over the last 24 hours. I hope to get it all buttoned up tomorrow. I just have a feeling something isn't right with the servo mount and tube. I'm use to a servo sitting more straight up than on a angle towards the front.

I know I want to lower the servo, but I need to go to the hobby shop tomorrow to pick up the correct spacers and grub screws.

Hey farmer looks great quick question. Is there any reason you dont run the shock mounts on the outside of the chassis so that way your standoffs arent so long. Or do they interfere with the upper links its hard to see from the pics.

Probably doing it for stability. The angles when viewed from front and back don't look bad at all.

Yah, the links would get into the arms more than they do now.

Thanks man, yours is next if we can get some shafts
I'm waiting for the hobby shop to open so I can go get some parts. The more I look at that servo and mount setup the more I want to chuck it. Unless I'm completley missing something. Something just doesn't jive. Having a real issue with the fitment of the tie rod and drag link.

What problems are you having with the steering links?
