Yeah that snap ring holding in the pin seems be the weak point. Being just 1 loop instead of multiple loops wrapping round it the pin has a chance to work its way past the snap ring at the break in the ring. I tried to orient this break in the snap ring away from the ends of the pin, though I would be surprised if it moves around later on. I'm going to check the hardware store for little metal zip ties later today. If I cant find anything to fit I'm thinking a smear of shoe goo might help to keep the ring in place while being something that could be cleaned up later if needed. EDIT: one more idea, maybe there's better snap ring available in the same size? its 12.7x0.7mm Last edited by HumboldtEF; 02-25-2018 at 10:15 AM. |

There is, but if I left that on for the picture you wouldnt be able to see how loose the pin fits. I also bought new wire collars at the same time as the pins...didnt make any difference.

I will give that a try. Do you mean glue the pin to either end of the wire ? Im going to order some 12mm pins as well and try them...expect they will beat the stuff from china in arrival time. Last edited by thewildblue77; 02-25-2018 at 01:50 PM. |

| Re: Coming soon .....GMADE GOM-GR1 Rock Buggy CVA's (GM30062) and Aluminum Shock Upper Ball 6x8.5mm Red (GM0020095) are the key items out of stock. I also want the brass and aluminum motor parts but I can live without them for now. Looks like ordering direct from Junfac may be my best bet.

Well Ive just had 2 sets of CVAs arrive from RCmart...of course they came quicker than the 12mm pins that Ive ordered to try. This time I had to build them. Ive just fitted a new one to the offside for the moment as that seems to be the one that was failing. The cup seems to be a slightly tighter fit. So I gave it 10 mins blasting round the garden on some light snow and it held up alright. In the meantime Ive also been in contact with Junfac about the 11.4mm pins being too short. They came back asking if I had grease in there. I explained that mine were pre-assembled and that the cup was too large for the pin...so at least the ball is rolling. Ive said that others have had the same issues.

Hey GOMMERS, I've read this thread from start to finish, and there's a lot of great info. I'm expecting my GOM kit to be delivered sometime this week, and I can't wait. It seems like there are solutions to most of the "design flaws", and I plan on applying all the ones that make sense during my build. I had an R1 kit, and was very happy with the build and overall quality. Some tedious assembly (a lot of f-in screws and nuts for the body panels), but it went together well, and had some very cool unique concepts. I've built a number of kits; most of which were racing buggies and touring cars, and they all had their issues and weak points. I currently have a couple of Axials, and out of the box they needed upgrades to help with turning radius and overall durability. There is no such thing as a perfect kit, but in my experience and from what I've read in this thread, the GOM kit seems every bit as good as the rest, and looks way more bad-ass! I guess the upgrades and fixes comes with the territory...you play hard with toy cars, they eventually break. What GMade offers for me is unique design and engineering. Good or bad, they are different, and I like that. Anyways, can't wait to get this beast, and if I come across any other ways to address design weaknesses, I'll share. My kids always tell me "sharing is caring" LOL. |

So I haven't gotten around to doing this yet but late last night it hit me that a rubber coated XL work glove might make a good shift boot to keep dirt and debris out of the shift slide mechanism. My idea is to cut the thumb off keeping some of the wider palm section and use it as the boot, and to somehow secure it to the shift housing and shift servo and ideally orient it so the rubber isn't touching the linkage, just surrounding it.

I've tried different ways on tuning the shift. I've added washers, rubber o rings, different springs, but it still didn't work 100%. So i just decided to use my 4th channel to adjust my subtrim for the shift servo. This way, I won't hear the grinding gears when it doesn't shift properly. Sent from my SM-A520W using Tapatalk |
