I have opened the box back up twice looking for that mirror.
Cool you found most of the stuff missing, hope the seller makes it right.

Set pin has to go all the way, otherwise it binds, with the small set screw in the axle.

Only locked the rear diff. I tought the original bruiser also had a rear locked diff. Guess even one locked axle will help offroading a lot.

Offtopic.. are my pictures to big? On the Tapatalk app they seem to be normal size. But when i look at the forum with my chromebook they are very big. Maybe it is something to do with settings of my browsers? Otherwise, tell me, and i will resize the pictures.
My hilux has lockable diff front hub ,the rear is locked.

As i couldnt seem to line up the set screw properly, u need to disconnect the axle.
Reminder dont try to loose the setscrew on the driveshafts, before you heat them up. As they are very stuck.

Opened up the axle and tried to screw in the pin.
Screwpin didnt go all the way so it binds with the axle housing/set screw.

Cleaned the diff so i could take a closer look.
Holes are alined nearly properly.
ANd used a set screw pin with cut edges.

Now the set screw fits all the way true.

:-)
Very nice thx.

After some short driving on the street. I finally got the time to do a real offroad test with the locked rear diff. (ps. how can you make youtube videos directly visible, instead of the link)

On bumpy roads it has bumpsteer, so hold on to the steering wheel. Also the brake is very weak so downhill can be a bit sketchy everything held on fine.

On eBay they have a bunch of spare parts for the truck available now - something that Tamiya never provided, unfortunately :( but judging by what I have read so far, they will work on the rere bruiser.

Tamiya makes black bumpers for the Tamiya Bruiser. I ordered them to see how it looks. The package came with, front and rear bumper and black body post mounts.
Also some other parts that normally came in white.

I am not sure yet if i like it.

There are both genuine and clone available currently.

I like it. I go for colormatch though. I might have snagged a steel set on ebay along with the rc4wd bed rack that is currently on sale. I wil update when they arrive.

Also Toucan (ebay seller) has been very good at communicating with me regarding the mirror and the decals. I do have a feeling he cut the mirror and lens from the tree and sent just those two items instead of the whole tree.....we will see how long it takes to arrive. Still waiting on the battery and the free lipo checker he is sending me too....

I've run a few batteries through mine. After the first run I did a once over of the leaf spring setup. It turns out they had torqued all the leaf spring hangers together way tight. After backing everything off a half turn the suspension smoothed out significantly.

I've order a set of the RC4WD 12mm conversion axles to see if they fit.

Also, the stock ESC did not last long on 3s!

I love how this KO brought attention back to this vintage design after all these years. Gotta admit, those vintage Tamiya designs still hold their "charm".

Got a set of the rc4wd bumpers and sliders used on eBay. Also grabbed the rc4wd bed rack. I think it fits alright. holy hell it's beefy stuff. Got some scale items too may try to make this a class 1 or 0 depending on what I figure out with wheels and tires

Painted mine and added a Hilux bed with drop bed. Colour is a little off in pics but it's Tamiya TS-86. I still have to paint the details, wipers, trim etc. Also going to build a topper, rear bumper, and lights.

With the Tamiya Lunchbox

I hit the door handles and the tailgate latches with the same chrome pen I used on the grill. The camper cab doesnt do it for me. I am going to try to find some back glass for it and put the rack where the camper was instead of behind it. It will crawl if you make it. It needs a steering servo with these large tires for anything more than flat surfaces. The diff lock will help it on the rocks immediately and it could really benefit from a drag brake. Had a great time with it after dinner tonight at the spot behind the house. It scared Rochelle on the steep rocks when it kept rolling unlike the honchos.
