My Doomsday arrived over the weekend. I've mostly formulated a plan, and now I need to execute.

I think the plan here is going to be to put small-ish 1.9 wheels & tires on it, put normal bumpers on it, upgrade the servo, and take some of the jewelry off of the body to give it more of a rat-rod vibe and less of a Mad Max vibe.

Hopefully the plastic spools will hold up until I can find some of the aluminum jobs affordably. Paying 2x as much for these little spools as I paid for the same thing in a full size version for my Gen7 gives me heartburn.

No idea why anyone would replace it with stock. I think if anything epoxy the axles in place with this if you are staying stock. Was thinking about red loctite I wonder if that would work.

Exactly what I am thinking. I am gonna try it before I decide on new axles. We just got the cross rc crawler kits. The axles look amazing. I also just found some rc4wd billet beowolf axles. They look like they are meant for Tamiya parts but burly as hell.

Decided the clod body is out. Found a new bright FJ cruiser body i forgot i had.
But i am starting to like the Sumo from proline.

Anyone running a sumo body and under 4" tall tires?

Thanks and the doomsday should be arriving tomorrow.

Could be a wrong number. The one I ordered and received was metal. much sturdier than the original.

What you talking about? My guess is the spool/locker.

Well my Redcat spool order was cancelled due to being out of stock, and they are out of stock literally everywhere I can find. So unless I can figure out a way to jerryrig the original into not slipping temporarily, I guess the almost brand new truck will sit on the shelf. I just can't justify paying 40% of the trucks cost on the original spools that wont be an upgrade. :/

I would rather drive on plastic than none at all for the forseeable future. Most LHS carry the plastic spool for the ECX Temper and can be had for $13 locally. I gave up on the Alu spools for now. There seems to be a crap ton of redcat 10 spools that dont fit our axle though.

My axles had play on the spools right out of the box. Doing scale crawling I dont think its stripping out but if it does I have a spare plastic one to keep going. Im thinking of the JB weld though it could work. Dip the axle in Jb and then stick it in the spool and let cure.

Thanks!! That natural rocky terrain is just begging for some aggressive tires!!!

Just like with my track car, I like them stock and replace parts as I need to. Tires can be replaced anytime and *maybe* I can wear these out first lol!

my doomsday arrived today. I all ready have a growing pile of parts i will not be using. If anyone wants the body, the tires and wheels PM me.

Due to my complete lack of self control i pulled the trigger on a proline sumo body.

maybe i should give this thing a run in the living room before i start hitting "buy it now".

Of course I ment the aluminum locked differential! Did I read somewhere that an Axial diff would fit? Can't believe with all the demand for the part no one has picked a replacement supplier.

I am talking swap of entire diff housing and axles. Vs getting replacement spoils and other parts. The stock scx axles would hold up great.

Does the vII have metal lockers? Strange RedCat does not restock. Hot item I would think.

I was answering petev's question.

If you look back I was the first to swap out stock axles for a 1/10 axles but wasn't cause of stripped spools or broken axle shafts.
