Is anyone else running a 540 motor plate for the original Barrage? I picked one up for $12 shipped from RC Basement and it looks pretty cool. I just need to get it mounted. I don't think it's on the website, but you can contract them through RC Basement

I wouldn't try that without at least an aluminum spool ... the plastic ones have already a short live span with the 390 so with 540 ...

My stock Rx shut down in water this weekend. It's the ECX 4 channel v3 I think or v4. I installed my spektrum 200srx hopefully it won't do the same. I will pack it with dielectric grease to be safe. Is my stock RX toast or in danger of shorting out other electronics??

Given the RX gets its power from the ESC, if the RX shorts, you'll fry your ESC's BEC at least ...

Dry your RX in a rice bag for a few days, then power it directly with a 6V battery (not from ESC) and plug a cheap disposable servo on each outputs ... if it works, it should be safe to use.

Thanks i tried it on my micro barrage today that's lipo powered not bec. For this, i could risk my diy esc (free) but it works tho. Weather here is extreme heat and dry i think it dried out from saturday. It basically had no lights in the Rx saturday but the esc was blinking. Im guessing it was waiting for the zero throttle signal but never got one.

Last weekend I swapped in the cnc aluminum SCX10 axles on my Barrage. The extra weight really helps keep the wheels planted while crawling. The only disadvantage I find so far is the larger pumpkin gets hung up easier and have to work on finding the right line. Also with the taller servo tray, I had to remove the front crossmember to allow clearance to flex.

That’s awesome. I have the Tamiya fj40 bodywaiting for paint and what I decide on axles. I think you just made up my mind. The weight will be key. I am gonna run some steel gmade wheels when I rig it. Thanks

The upper links are a bit short and will need their mounts moved out about a 1/4 inch. Just need to drill a new hole in the chassis rails. You can find the axles on Amazon & eBay. I made a quick video with my FJ40 crawling around some tree roots.

Dirty Steve was putting in some work on the rocks this afternoon! He managed not to break anything in spite of the fact that he drives like an a-h0le!

Last pic gives a good idea of the steepness of the inclines on my rock walls out back. I'm still shocked and surprised at some of the lines this little rig can claw it's way up!

On another very positive note, I got a line on a bunch of free landscaping stones and boulders. At least 3, full size pick-up truck loads. FREE! I should be able to pick them up in the next couple weeks and I already have a pretty good area mapped out to place them. It will basically be a loop with different points of entry that can be run in either direction. Should be pretty sweet. I'll post some pics once I've got them and start laying them out.

Slipped the LockedUpRC wheels and RC4WD Compass 1.9's off the Truggy and on to Dirty Steve. I gotta say, that little bit of extra height out of these tires versus the PitBull's definitely helped. They're a tad on the tall side for this rig without trimming out the fender wells a bit, but just barely. The bit of extra weight from the aluminum wheels versus the plastic GearHead's didn't hurt either. Plus, they just look freak'n sweet IMHO!

After the crawl this afternoon, I showed Dirty Steve's rig some much needed love. Greased the front and rear pumpkins, replaced two front axle bearings, re-adjusted pinion/spur mesh and wiped / brushed down the chassis. I even gave the body a much needed wash. In keeping with the "love", I ordered some SSD scale locking hubs for up front, SSD scale rear hubs, and an RC4WD steering stabilizer for the servo link.

All that, and that Bastard Dirty Steve didn't even offer me one of the beers out of his cooler!

Well, the spit and polish on Ol' Dirty Steve's rig didn't last too long! I've got the day off so I headed to the park down the street from me for an early morning crawl and trail session. This place is always a blast, but kind of a pain to get to. You have to walk about a 1/2 mile down some RR tracks until you get to this little river valley. With the recent rains we've had, the stream was a bit high in places and the rocks were super slick. But, it was still a blast!
