We could try Bartlet Munger Sunday. I'm not sure what the status is on that location recently.

Guys, I just ordered something from GCM and I figured I'd better point this out to you. Right now the exchange rate for the Canadian to US dollar is very much in our favor. If you were planning to get something from GCM, now's the time. The exchange calculated via paypal is just like an 18% off coupon. I paid $164 CAD to them and it's really only like $133 USD. Last year at this time it was more like 1:1. Just thought I'd share. Go back to sleep. |

Man I went to do the hoopty leaf trick and the damn eye broke right off! I guess I should have put some heat on it first. Last edited by JHTreyIII; 03-12-2015 at 05:12 PM. Reason: spelling |

What's the leaf trick...? And what pretty leafsprings are those?

He bends up the ends, cuts off the eye and puts a ball joint on each end. It helps the leafs move. Those are RC4WD leaf springs.

Ohhhh. Hmm. I can do that. I have some rc4wd ones too. But they don't have those small wraps around the helpers. Tf2? Mine are from older versions. Thanks for clarification on the mod.

Same thing happened to me.. Apparently its the rc4wd springs. Jason uses Tamiya springs. I guess they are more springy and less snappy. These I believe: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/tam9808091.htm Last edited by Die-Laughing; 03-12-2015 at 08:10 PM. |

I have some of both. I'd swear they aren't good spring steel. Takes a bent memory so easy.

for my leaf thing you can use the longest helper leaf and bend it. thats what ive done. seriously... rc4wd springs are shit compared to tamiya. never had an issue bending them just drilling them for the rod end screw. look up rooster mod on scale4x4, iirc there was a decent thread. |

I see what you did there hoopty. Awesome. I think I'm going to do this except go the other way to lower ride height. With my leafs on top the scx axles it sits a little silly looking high. Is that heat shrink keeping your helpers aligned?

That seems like a good idea Mike, bending the other direction.

| Re: NIRC. Chit Chat i ****ing despise the rc4wd springs... 100% tamiya. i dont heat them when i bend them, that would mess up the spring steel. the shrink doesnt keep them aligned it keeps them together to add to the main springs rate. i do that to stiffen up the overall leaf, then if i want more or less flex one way or another i'll put helper springs on either the top or bottom of the spring pack. e.g. if i want less droop i'll put helpers on the top, if i want less compression i'll put them on the bottom, so the spring only acts against the main leafs when being compressed or extended. the way they are bent right now puts the rod end very close to the original spring bushing hole. but 1000000% the tamiya springs are sooooo much better than the rc4wd. and f those shitty red rc4wd springs... i just buy the f350 spring bag with all the leafs and hardware. dont get the tundra leafs, they are shorter. |

but anyway... its a mod and i assume no responsibility if you mess it up or are unhappy when you are done. that f350 is one of my oldest and heaviest rigs and ive used it quite a bit, never once bent or tweaked a spring or had one of the bends for the rod ends fail. but... i dont drive it like a linked rig, if i get in a bad bind i do what i can but dont blindly throttle out. |

The ones I have on there now are a tamiya set I bought seperate on eBay a long time back. To replace the rc4wd poo. Looks like this'll be today's project. Jeez if feels like 100x taking trucks apart to get anywhere. Thanks for the heating tip. I'll clamp it in a vise I have and slowly tap em over with a hobby hammer I got. I have a good punch and drill press for the holes. And a few extra leaf springs in the chance I flub one. A lhs had a red set of rc4wd for sale for $40-50 last week lmao. No way Jose.

i just used a couple pairs of pliers to bend mine. i also use the oldschool traxxas rod ends that take a 3mm screw. im sure i could bend them and that at some point i will. before i put the alloy axles on my 350 i had an antiwrap bar. ive intended to fab them for my 350 and tf2 again just dont have the ambition. |
