digging thru all my springs i actually found 4 secondary leafs already drilled out for the ballend mod. the tamiya arch is a tad more aggressive than the rc4wds arch, but i think thats good and it will settle down after some use. if it doesnt work i'll just do the same thing to the rc4wd springs.

i'm actually not that put off by the rc4wd springs now that i've messed with them. the red ones suck but these aint too shabby, i over-arched them like crazy last night and they didnt lose shape, and the one leaf i had that was differently arched matches the others now after doing that.

got a dinky topper today with a bunch of other various scale stuff. its ok but i wish there was another piece to attach to the bottom to secure it to the bed, i'll have to see what other people are doing to mount them. i like the way my f350 topper fits with the magnets, hopefully i can do something similar.

excited to go home and at least try to get the springs all done up and mounted before the gf demands my attention.

I am wiring mine up right now, maybe get some of the wire loom installed tomorrow and a mount for my ESC. Going to use the Electronics box for my receiver. Going tomorrow to get a bottle of case for the MIG and an acetylene bottle refilled so I can maybe start on the tube work.

Just found a pair of Chino Militarys and a couple sets of LighLift leafs in my shop. If I can get some time tomorrow, I think I am going to try the Rooster Mod on one end of each.

Have any of you guys run across a set of Tamiya Tundra leafs? I can't find them anywhere. I want both those and the hilux so I can see which will work better for my clod.

I am pretty sure that all of the Highlifts kits had the same leafs, Hilux, F350 and Tundra.

I have read the tundra springs are smaller. I can find them but they're out of stock everywhere. The smaller ones allow for a little more adjustment on the GCM chassis.

Maybe Jason has some, I have 1/2 dozen set but they are all Highlift kit springs from the F350 and Hilux and are the same, and a set of Chino's from RPP.

i dont have any tundra springs.

got my tf2 to roller tonight. rooster modded with no springs in the shocks and filled with 30wt. very smooth for leafs with no axle play other than the slop at the frame end of the shackles. the front shackles hit the bumper crossmember at full compression. looks like it would happen even without my springs. need to make some boomerangs. ;)

i just threw a motor and esc and a 5000mah 3s to simulate running weight.

i need to measure the spring & shock mounts and see if i can maybe duplicate the f350 setup.

pretty cool truck for the money. i fiddled a bit more with the transfercase and got the bind out by moving the case a little so the bearings and gears were lined up better. the thing rolls pretty good with no binding or resistance.

Tundra springs are shorter. RPP usually has them in stock..

getting rid of the shock springs helped a bunch but softened up the suspension quite a bit. prolly throw a short leaf in the rear and long leafs in the front.

the ballends will hit the chassis hangers at max articulation. but i consider it a bumpstop of sorts.

Got my second set done. Only problem was, until i decided the amount of blood out weighted time, i stopped and made a clamping jig to hold the spring steel in the drill press. Up until then it was drill press 2, Neil 0. 4 holes and 2 bandaids. after the clamp, 4 holes, no bandaids. LOL.
