| I'm not even in the same solar system as a "talented machinist.". I gave up and used set screws on the flats.

Can someone confirm the diff shim size needed is 13mm x 16mm? What I have is installed or I'd measure one. EDIT: found it in the manual and 13x16 is correct Last edited by Cordwood; 10-16-2011 at 03:40 PM. |

Couple questions - Do the Ofna CVA's change the track width? And is there much if any benefit to running them in the back axle if it's non-steering? Also are the RC4WD alum knuckles worth upgrading to? |

The OFNA CVD's are great for front steer and give you a HUGE advantage in steering when mixed with the RC4WD Knuckles The gain in "THROW" of the RC4WD knuckles is greater thus giving you more steering (APROX 20%) But would bind with just dog bones. If , however you are going "Non steer" in the rear (IMO) there would be no bennifet As far as track width: "Track Width" is measured using Center of tire contact patch to center of tire contact patch.. Track can be affected by wheel backset..as well as shimming the wheel Hub but not by the OFNA CVD's unless you are cutting them and modding them for shorter length axles Regards Rick Last edited by v84x4; 10-17-2011 at 11:46 AM. | |

another thing with dogbones is there inherently more slop in the driveline. but that really isnt an issue unless you decide it is on...:thumbs i have the rc4wd knuckles and love em. they are also BEEF. i use an ofna Universal drivshaft in mine. new topic: i am just using some Tamiya Grease on my gears. not a lot either, just enough to keep things smooth. http://www.toysonics.com/tamiya-8702...ease-10-g.html its awesome sticky stuff too. another options is the anti wear grease. its about as thick as epoxy, is lasts forever. While building my last truck I did some searching here and saw recommendations for Mobil 1 synthetic grease (for car brakes / bearings / etc), so I've started using that since we had some in the garage. Haven't really run the truck yet but it looks like it'll stick to the gears pretty well.

With RC Alloys out of business, is NewEraModels our only hope for beefy axle shafts?

Most everyone is running buggy shafts with great results. And yes to your question unless Super Shafty has some plans.

Got Titan shafts yesterday. Man are the nice. Hate to cover them up. Had to drill the pin hole put for the kyosho pin, bit that wasn't a problem. Now that my axles are beafed up. I need to bead up the old 3906 emaxx trans. Onto search for more info.
