I am having some issues coming up with the best idea for an electronics package for this rig. I am tossing around 2 ideas. I need some help, please!!! Idea A: DX6I controller with AR6100 receiver Dual FXR ESC's Dual 8711 servos Idea B: DX3r controller with SR3000 receiver Torque master BR ESC Dual 8711 servos Punk programmable computer. I am interested to hear some comments on either of the two choices. Or any new ideas that might be good. I am not going to run rear steer for a while until I get everything else completed, so I want to have a good base to build off of with the electronics. |

Just a picture update. I got the MRC rolling again so I snapped a few pics with the two together.

IF want the ultimate Crawler then Idea A , Dual ESC's WHat Gear ratio you aiming for ? I do not see those tires doing well at crawl climbing Last edited by toy4crawlin; 08-19-2009 at 09:53 PM.

I don't know what the final gear ratio will be but I am using a set of R2 gears and a 10t or 12t pinion as my trans set up. I have talked allot with GADGE about this and he seems to think that this will be the best combination for me. I have decided to go with option A for my electronics since this will give me the most options in the long run. I know that the CRUSHERS don't have that good of a track record so I will also be getting a set of moabs or x-locks for the hard core stuff. I just liked that they matched the original better.

I hope your using HD gears, with a big motor and the weight of that rig your going to bust those gears, those R2's are noisy too, I had one but sold it and got a 2 speed but it broke. I just realized, WHy are going with Dual ESC's if your not MOA, just a single motor/tranny ? moabs kinda suck, you may want to consider making the plowboys like Kamikaze and the other super guys do for ultimate crawl traction |

As for electronics, I'd say go with the dx3r. That would be my personal preference, cause at speed I find it a lot easier to control a rig with a pistol style tx as compared to a stick. Again, that's me, others who have grown up with rc's on stick would argue the opposite.

I did get the HD version of the gears for this project. As for the dual ESC's being used, the answer to that will be obvious in the coming weeks. I have some thing interesting in the works. Hush hush! I am not building this as a comp rig so the tire choice is going to remain somewhat cosmetic. I am going to try some things with the crushers to see if I can improve the performance of them once I get the rig running and can do some testing.

try some simple green on those crushers. i hear that stuff works wonders. not sure though. maybe just soak em over night in a tire softening solution. like what is used for go kart racing. |

You know the older 3906 E-maxx trans are really strong, almost bullet proof if you upgrade the idler to aluminum or steel. You can get a gorillamaxx single speed conversion to make it a bit smaller too. I just did my own single speed conversion (basically free) to get rid of the extra mass and shifting servo. I know they're not near as compact as the R2 setup but they work awesome. I'm running one in my 1/6th scale truck with (2) 7t cobalt puller motors on 3S lipo and that thing rips. My truck weighs 20lbs and I'm chewing up my X-factor axles while my stock maxx trans is still holding up. I've got to be getting around 20mph top end out of my truck but it still crawls awesome even with 8.5" tall tires and the weight. Lots of pics and a few videos of my rig on this page of the build thread 1/6th Chevy Monster Truck |
