Since I am waiting for $ for parts; I thought that I would start on some of the accessories. After a few hours with the hand files I got the light bar cleaned up. It is not 100% finished but it is very close. Lots of work blending everything together to get a good finish. I may spray a little primer on so I can see where I am at. My version is sot exact to the 1.1 but I opted for this configuration to protect the lights more in the case of a roll over. Since it mounts in 4 places it should be plenty strong to handle this. I also got the prototype completed for the light's. I had purchased 10 led flashlight on the bay for less than $8 a while back. I had to cut them a few times to get the size rite. Each one has 9 LED's, so 9 x 3 = 27 LED's. That's allot and they are very bright. Should be enough light for some night running. I still need to get the wiring figured out and then I can make the 3 that are going on the rig. The light bar and light's mount directly to the roof. I will be making 2 roof panel's so all I have to do is switch the roof to run with or without the light's. Here is a few pics of where I am at with this. |

Looks like I got the steering situation figured out. Just figured I would throw up some pic's and see what everyone thinks. I have not drilled for the rod ends and the large screw is just temporary. The bracket will be held in place by clamping pressure and 3 set screws from the bottom. Post up and let me know what you think! |

That's looking great. Is that going to have enough movement to give you all the steering?? Keep us updated |

I finally got to order some parts for this rig as well as the MRC racer. I ordered some rod ends to get the steering somewhat set up so I can start fabing the servo brackets. I also ordered two sets of the heavy duty replacement gears for the R2. Once they come in I can send them with the motors to a secret lab to get transformed into a dual drive trans. Hush hush!!! I have also made some panels for it that will get a special treatment. I do have one question though. Should I make the skid out of alum, derlin or titanium? The derlin I would have to make some relief cuts into so the entire thickness does not hang below the chassis. Let me know what you think. and sorry no picture updates yet. Soon! |

You could make the skid out of aluminum and put a piece of thin delrin or plastic over it so it will still slide nice but since its so big aluminum will be perfect |

Thanks for all of the comments, but regrettably not much to update. The trans is in the works now, and frame cleanup continues. I have all of the patterns made for the panels just need to get them cut out of the final material. One set will be out of alum and another out of fiberglass ( for bashing ). I will post up anything as it comes up. Thanks again! |

Wow Kevan, I haven't checked this thread for a while but that's some clean-up job you did on the light bar! Can't wait to see how the frame looks once you're done with it. It did look a little rough when it was packed up !
