Got to get the rear lights working so a soldering I will go...

(BTW - Heyok did a soldering tutorial on his "All of his stuff on one page" post in the vendor electronics thread that saved my bacon when it comes to understanding how diodes & LED's work with each other to allow us to have lighted rigs. His advice and help on how & what to use has allowed me to properly wire up my Jeep. Thanks Al !!!)

Got the brake lights working

And the reverse lights too...

Cutting a slot in the bumper to allow the winch line to go through it... Made a fairlead with my Bowie knife!

Now to find a place to mount this winch...

Been battling a short in a wire, never could find it so I ripped out the wires running from front to back in the harness and tracked down the short.

Then I had a great idea - I added 4 wires into the bundle so that if I run into another problem I can just bypass the trouble wire and swap to one of the 4 unused wires... BOOYAH !

Connecting the wires to some switches I installed to control the rock lights, LED dash light, fan & winch.

It's so stinking cold in the garage I'll wait until next week to weld up a mount for the winch.

Well, I've got to figure out how to run the winch line from the rear to the front bumper... Figure I'd bend up some tubing and lay it along the underside of the chassis.

No vice around here so I'll just get creative ...

Here's what I ended up with...

Well, well, well... received a package from CrawlerDad and figured I'd check them out to see what it is...

What are these little things? Sooo tiny...I could fit them in my pocket.

They'd fit into my headlight buckets if I needed them too...

But they can't be that bright. Maybe I should test them to see how bright they are...

Aaaaannnnnddddd power on...

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! I did it again !!!

Default Behind Enemy Lines

Gotta get the winch mounted so here's where the winch line will go into the tube that runs along the underside of the chassis.

Mounted the winch in a metal bracket...

Needed to raise it up for a smooth transition for the line to go into the tube so I'll use this metal plate as a spacer to help line it all up.

Mounting the bracket to the floor of the Jeep.

Now putting the winch into the bracket.

Drilling a hole in the box to run the winch wires into it. Gotta keep it neat !

It is always a joy reading this. I even read it to my kids last night and they got a few good laughs out of it.

Time to make a box to cover the winch... Got the handy axe for cutting styrene.

It's also good for use on Herman the German !

Ended up crafting something that fits into the space nicely... a bit rough still though.

Did some more detail work with the axe and made some pieces for the edges. Even crafted a handle for it.

Time to get it to the paint booth!
