Awesome metal work
In fact, it's my inspiration to finally jump into it and build my own 8x8 truck,
Too bad, I didn't have the tool and most specially a skill to do something like yours,
Keep it up, I've watching and subscribed

Forgot to add the poser shot of the front bumper in my last post:

Got to work on the front suspension. Springs made the same way as the rear, bolt on hangers etc. After I got the front axle secured I took a few flex shots. Not bad considering all the leaf springs I added, but this thing is a heavy weight so they actually work out well. Oh yeah and it pained me but I had to take the paint brush to the RC4WD rockwell beauties and turn them green, don't know if I'll be able to bring myself to paint the rims though.

I think this thing might have a little troubled turning radius with all 3 axles locked just from moving it around on the workbench

Fantastic work! Steel is being used as it should, for everything! I wouldn't worry to much about your turning radius, its a multi-axle you know?

at least your turning radius will be scale, the 818 has a 37' turning radius. it need 74' to make a U turn.

Just like my Superduty!!! I need three lanes, a curb and a sidewalk before I back up! Killer work here. Awesome every time I see this.

exactly. olive street is 5 lanes wide with curbside parking making it 7 and i still borrow some sidewalk getting the extended cab long bed powerstroke turned around.

Interesting fact, I'll have to take a turning radius measurement when it's running to see how close to the real thing it is.

Started the grill and carved up a piece of wood as a form for shaping the hood

Well I've recently come down with this bad disease, it's called SCA and one of the side effects of the addiction is spending money to get the next fix here's some info on it:
Scale Addiction?? Do you suffer??

But seriously I spent a couple months debating if it was really worth the money for these axles, and then I bought the parts one by one so I didn't drop all the loot at once, made me feel better too by hiding the grand total The axles were just screaming to get put under one of these military trucks and the detail on them is just impressive.

If you keep posting, I think the SCA disease is gonna spread.
I can see it starting to affect me. Better call the CDC, or maybe not.
Great build thread.

i took some decent 1:1 in inches measurements of the hood for RCJeepbuilder, didn't know if you found it in the 5-ton folder.

Thanks for posting that...I hadn't seen it before. We're here to help. The only remedy is to hug your wife...place a new parts order, and start a new build. That way, you don't get withdrawal symptoms!

Yeah that's exactly the picture I used for measurements when shaping the wood block. Thanks again for sharing that picture archive, one stop shopping with that and great for all the little details

Ha ha yup... oh and buying the parts one by one helped keep my wife from bitching at me about "all the money I'm supposedly wasting"
