It was tons of fun! Messed around with the car a little bit. I have been using the same rally blocks as last season and they are getting a little worn, so I am going to designate them practice tires and cut up a new set today. Got a nice little pile of cut off rubber. And with our next race being in January and on a frozen lake I finally glued up my ice tires. Hope they work, if nothing else they look cool. And with all the water coming up I decided it was time to finally waterproof these electronics. First I had to pull the receiver out of the case and it was packed full of dirt! Sprayed them down with some silicone and time to dry. Went for a test fit of the ice tires, they are narrow and small. |

Constant inspiration, thanks Turtle! Ever thought of jamming thumb tacks through from inside the tyre to create tyre spikes for ice??? Cheers, Crouch |

| Re: Turtle's Modified XV-01 I have actually done that before. But for this race we are not allowing any metal or plastics spikes. It is rubber tires only to keep our impact to a minimum.

My favorite thread ever. Thanks again for great updates and inspiration. After having the XV01 now for so long... I'm guessing you love it, but any thoughts of what the next big rally rc car will be (at scale)? They have brought out so many in the last 2 years but they all seem to be odd sizes. Getting mine ready for snow.. Took time to fillin holes in chassis bottom. I first taped the holes on chassis bottom. Then from the top side I used shoegoo. It dawned on me afterward that the shoegoo may not stick to chassis too well. So once it set, I removed tape in chassis bottom and filled remainder with epoxy. |

Okay so I'm 90% done with the kit assembly, and I've noticed the front tie rods make slight contact with the frame with the suspension fully unloaded. Once the susp. geometry angle changes, I no longer have this interference. Is this an issue any of you have had before? I can see that removing a small cut out in the chassis tub will eliminate this, but I'd rather not alter anything if I don't have to. Kit was easier to build than I thought. Thanks for your help in advance!

| Re: Turtle's Modified XV-01 I think asiatees. I posted a photo of them in this thread when I got them about a year ago. They are made for 1.9 wheels and found them in the 14th scale buggy section on their website. They have that particular profile because of the 24mm wheels they are on and because I pushed both beads to the middle of the wheel.

| Re: Turtle's Modified XV-01 And the detail on the hpi isn't even close to this one. That one is a long since disco'd tamiya. I have more photos of the body in the non crawler section.
