The Scaler tires look better in person, but performance wise they were lacking. I'm still using the stock Axial foams and BFG KO2s on my SCX10 II. We were all making lines that truck wasnt able to make. Some of them were really pretty simple with grippy coarse rock. I kinda want to throw a set of the Showdowns on my Bomber... And stay classy Ottsix. |

I ran scalers for a few test runs on our test area here and they were garbage. Wouldn't hook to save their lives and very unpredictable. Was very disappointed as they look similar enough to the old school Goodyear MTr tires that I need to do a clone with. After seeing how bad they performed, I just can't bring my self to run them. Pretty disappointing considering the price point and looks. I ran the same tuned set of DW foams I run in my BFG Krawlers and Falken Wildpeaks and these just couldn't find traction. |

That was what I saw...We were all making it up this one rock in particular that had almost a sandpaper like texture and the Scaler CRs just slipped and would not even come close to grabbing. All of the rigs out on this trip were milder builds and nobody else (not even a 3wd Ascender on Boggers) had a problem with it. The owner of that truck ended up skipping most of the challenging stuff the rest of the day. I think the Showdowns would look slick on a southern style bouncer. For some reason the other styles remind me of old retreads I used to see in the back of Four Wheel and Offroad magazines in the 90s. |

He said he had been running them for a little while. They were definitely not new.

| Re: Duratrax 1.9/2.2 Scale Tires There are guys on this site that would call free money "garbage". There are other people that are calling these tires garbage because they have their own agenda (owning a competing tire company, sponsored by a competitor, etc.). You'll never get a true, unbiased opinion from 90%+ of the people on this site.

One of my friends bought some because they were cheap. I saw them first hand. He had the stock foams and they were way too soft. He ended up tearing the sidewall on 2 of them. They might've been better with some good foams. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk |

I put a set of 2.2 Deep Woods on my Bomber. They're a bit taller and softer than I would like but I knew that going in from previous reviews. I needed new tires and figured I would give them a try. Overall I'm pleased. They perform really well crawling. The tread pattern bites really well on everything I've tested it on. They're much better than the stock tires and Ripsaws. Slightly better than the Flat Iron XLs (I was running 1.9 FI XLs during my 1.9 Bomber phase). They make a really nice roost in soft dirt. They do need CI foams (as do most tires). I'm going to order some CI DD 6.0s. Narrow inner and medium outer for the front and narrow inner firm outer for the rear. My Bomber's a bit chunky. I put a hole in a sidewall. Which I hope is a fluke. The terrain I have been driving on lately is full of sharp rocks. Easily patched. |

My sidewall was punctured not torn. I've been running a spot with some really sharp rocks and construction material. I knew it would be hard on soft tires. I put a drop of tire glue on the hole and it's all good. No signs of additional tearing since the fix. |

It all depends on the terain you drive on. I'd say pit bulls or krls or tsl's, I have been running the jconscepts scorpius tire on my 6x6 and they hook up well everywhere. I will be getting some of the duratrax tires at the end of the comp season. Sent from my SM-T350 using Tapatalk Last edited by snapon boy; 07-28-2016 at 04:02 PM. |
