I think the TRX-4 axle will work.

Ok, go ahead and pull the trigger! I need to see what you are cooking up!

which one of you want to do the math on all the gearing so I don't end up with a truck that runs like a terd and looks amazing? vfd overdrive, trx4 rear underdrive. Pinion and spur you ask... damn good question

Well, I suck at all that gearing math! I need to sit down and figure mine out someday!

Harley just posted videos on YouTube explaining how to calculate gearing. You should check that out.

Josh did a very similar build and just last week did a video covering all the math. Here is the gearing video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1F-wfq4d44&t=895s

The VFD Transmission kit includes an updated skid plate with just enough material removed to allow for perfect driveshaft clearance when using the offset TRX4 Front axle.

I recommend getting the TRX4 VS4-10 Panhard and Drag link kit to help locate the axle properly due to the shorter links required with the position of the panhard mount ont he TRX axle.

Since i just learned this over the weekend I'll give it a shot...

Stock pinion = 15t
Stock Spur = 56T
VFD Trans = 2.95 Front / 3.15 Rear
TRX4 Axle = 34/11 Front, 35/10 Rear, 2.3 Portal

Soooo...

Front (56/15)*2.95*3.09*2.3 = 78.29 FDR
Rear (56/15)*3.15*3.5*2.3 = 94.67 FDR

This gives you 17.3% overdrive at the front axle.

17t pinion gets you to 69.08/83.53 F/R

19t pinion gets you to 61.81/74.74 F/R

DO IT! (Or I will too ( I might anyway since I have these axles sitting around))

This is what I came up with too and is WAYYYYYYY deep I think. Now if I did comp crawling I think it may be amazing, but as much of my use is trailing as crawling, but just for the sake of doing it, I may have a mountain goat sooner than later haha, I need to stop getting ideas.

If you overdrive the front instead of underdrive on the rear you’ll still have 16.7% OD and can get to a 54.99/66.00 F/R fdr with a 19t pinion.

Doing both OD and UD gets you 54.99/74.74 F/R with a 26.4% OD.

Another consideration is going to a smaller spur to fit a larger pinion. The VS410 Pro manual lists 56/17 as the largest gearing which produces the same gear spacing as 50/23. Going 1 tooth smaller on the pinion (50/22) for a little wiggle room would have the same gear spacing as 56/16 so it should fit within the available mesh space and give you a 47.6:1 ratio at the front and a 57.6:1 ratio at the rear.

What does "sintered" mean in the gear description?

So can sintered gears strip easily?

They are extremely durable. Only second to machined hardened steel gears.

Thank you for the clarification. This is the first I've heard of sintered Gears, so this is new to me.

Most manufactures that use this type of gear will advertise them as "Metal Gears". We wanted to make sure to provide all the information so there is no confusion between the different options available.

Here are the machined steel gears that would be an option for the VPS10152 VFD Transmission Kit: https://www.vanquishproducts.com/vfd-machined-gear-set/

Are the machine gears necessary in this transmission?

I'm going to say the sintered gears will last the life of the truck for 95% of the people.
