Looks good, perfect stance. No fender flares though? I thought tires needed to be at least half covered for C1.

Yep! I've got some fender flares from RC4WD that I stupidly forgot to install last night. They may get installed in the hotel in Montana now! But yes, I've got 'em. I want to be nice and legal for the big show!

Very nice build! Can't wait to get on my build, using my old '83 for inspiration.

Well, I just got word last night that this rig arrived to The Hobby Garage in Montana yesterday. Best part is, it doesn't look like FedEx had any elephants sit on it during transit! And just before I shipped it, I added the RC4WD flares to it so it'll be 100% legal for C1!

I'll try to post some pics from Montana once we get reunited!

Rig looks SWEET bro !!

Can't wait to see it out on the trails.

I'm gonna try that inner fender mod out on one or 2 of my Yota's.....it looks really good on your rig !

I've mounted those fender flares before....with 3M 2-sided tape (the grey rubbery type)......and they removed without damage at all.

It's a quick way to try them out....but I'm not sure how the 2 sided tape would hold up to drastic temp swings and/or water.

Also...for a slightly more scale look....on the rear shock setup w/dropped beds....I've been trying out lots of different shock setups too.

I found that it looks pretty scale to mount them like we talked about earlier in this thread ( like this / \ ..)......and then I mounted them to the original crossbraces that are used for mounting the stock Shock hoops.

They worked out pretty good....and they still give LOTS of articulation.

Just something to try later if you want to make them look a little more scale.

Thanks for the kind words, y'all. I'm in the Helena airport in Montana waiting to fly home. The truck did well at Nats, but my driving was certainly lacking. I guess I was too focused on running the Bronco later in the day. ;)

Anyway, I'm signing off for now, but will post more when I get home.

Great meeting ya Tommy and despite your many breakdowns with the ply, that truck is amazing. You did a great job driving. I can't wait till next year.

Thanks, guys. It was great meeting y'all in Montana, too! And sorry it's taken me so long to reply here.

Overall, the truck performed reasonably well in Montana. I don't know where I ended up in the final standings, but it wasn't good. I drove very poorly 'cause I was more focused on driving my Class 3 rig, I guess. I was surprised how badly the diffs got caught on stuff! I knew the clearance would be tight with the short tires and Axial axles, but wow. I didn't want a tall tire 'cause I didn't think it would fit this build very well. Unfortunately, the performance with the shorter tires is simply too poor so I'm going to step up to some bigger tires soon. I just need to decide if I want some taller 1.55s like the RC4WD Mud Slingers or move to some 1.9s instead.

Anyway, I didn't really get any pics in Montana, but here's a couple that Locked Up took along with his rig and Big Oly.

Here it is at the Concours.

And this past weekend we had a scale comp followed by a trail ride. I managed to squeak out a win over Stang Killa, but just barely. Great driving, Cory! I felt much more comfortable with the truck and since I was more aware of the lack of diff clearance I was able to drive around it better. But it still got hung up on everything! So like I said, taller tires are in the works. I just need to determine which ones.

Here's some pics from the event. Enjoy!

No one can say this thing's a shelf queen. It got ABUSED out there!!
