Thanks guys. All those years spent building static models seem to be paying off on this one. LOL I just hope the finished product meets everyones expectations (including mine!)

Owned the real truck for about 13 years, & even tho it has been gone for almost 3 years now, the memories of it are still solid in the mind - those memories, and some good pictures are helping with all the little details.

weapon - the mirrors werent exactly stock, in fact, they were a set of semi mirrors I had on hand. When I got the truck it only had one small car style mirror on it - they kind you would expect to see on a Galaxie 500! LOL that just wouldnt do, so I got my hands on some brackets and hung the big west coast style mirrors on it, and a set of small 4" spot mirrors, too.

There were only 3 things that were not stock on the 1:1 truck - the wheels, the mirrors, and the stereo - everything else was bone stock, just the way she came from the factory - including the 40+ year old paint. well...ok, maybe the back bumper too...it was a heavy duty affair and I have never seen another quite like it - thinking it was custom made for the truck - simple, but very effective.

Thank you, sir.

and just because I couldnt stand it anymore once the drivetrain was in place - I ziptied the electronics to the frame and she has had her first run!

Still need to trim the servo mounting posts from the axles - might make it a little more capable? LOL But it was fun to actually have it running!
Oh, and it is only rear wheel drive at this time...still need another driveshaft to make it 4WD

Not bad....for a girl .

Only joking... Great job! You might want to look into some beeftubes for those axles. That wood body is going to be really top heavy. As for the old stock mounts, the only harm they'd cause would be if they got in the way of the suspension cycle. Great work nonetheless.

Not so sure about that - the chassis is darn heavy - without the battery! I should really get it on a scale to see just how bad it is...lol

Well - since they hang down, they kind of get hung up on things.

Taking a forced break from the build - school is getting in the way right now.

But never fear - this truck WILL get finished!

That little tie down strap is quite strong too...holding up the other half's birthday present - including battery...

What did you use to make the strap hooks?

a larger size jump ring - bought a set of 3 different sizes packaged together at the local Walmart - not sure what I will use the smallest size for, but the hooks were made from the largest one, and the tie rings are the middle size.

The thing is those jump rings are pretty small - experimenting with using other materials for the hooks

Sorry no updates on this gang - school has me super busy right now - even my weekends are being invaded by it...2 big projects for 2 classes eats up a LOT of time. The only good news is that the majority of my schoolwork will be finished by about the 17th of May - semester ends the week of May 20-24 - I think my last class is on the 23rd. I should be able to come up for air then! LOL

Thanks guys.

It has not been easy going back to school at my age (will be 50 this year) but hoping it will all be worth it in the end. I have worked my backside off, have made the school presidents list every semester so far, and been accepted to the Honor Society - Phi Theta Kappa... hopefully all that will actually mean something when I start the job hunt - looks good on the resume anyway!

gba - you hit the nail on the head! LOL better job = more money = more toys!
