Well, things are winding down with school - finally, only a few days left now, which means I am finally getting a little free time to myself again! YAY! Got the truck down off the shelf, dusted it off, and took a look at where it was. while the frame was ok, there were some issues - things weren't sitting quite right - so I decided to redo it - this time drilling ALL the holes before splitting the rails, and also shortened up the spacing for the spring mounts a little so the wheels sit in the wheel wells better... While dismantling, I discovered that things were indeed a bit off kilter! LOL so new frame was definitely needed. That took about 2 hours - give or take - to bend (and have it match the shape of the previous one), drill and split. Reassembly took about another 1/2 hour, and here it is, new frame rails, sitting much better now... (I know it looks like the front wheel isn't sitting in the wheel well right, but that is just a trick of the camera angle - it is centered pretty well in reality) I also did a bit of body work - still have a ways to go on that - but have added upper window frames on the doors (got to have some place to mount the mirrors! lol) and the main center body line has been added on one side - still need to do a bit of sanding there, and get the other side in place... She also has a firewall now... I have also started building a dash for her - need to dig out my pictures to refresh the memory a little for placement of everything... |

Thanks guys. Have been working on the dash - hopefully 3rd time is the charm! LOL Should have started out with the gauge cluster the first time (instead of waiting until after the second version), then maybe I wouldnt be redoing the main dash panel for the 3rd time... Oh well...it ought to be about right this time...Pics later... |

Well - here ya go, a couple of pics of what I have been up to the last couple of days.... like I said, had to redo the main dash panel a couple of times, but it has all worked out in the end... pieces and parts... and a general view of where it is headed...only had one of the control knobs made at this point (7 in total, plus a cig lighter, have been made since this was taken) The gauge cluster is 4 layers, plus the surround...(have some pics on my phone, just need to get them off there & on the computer) The radio is 3 layers, plus knobs & surround... Still have a LOT of work to do on this thing, but I think it is coming along ok... |

got those pics off my phone... gauge cluster in progres... and where things are at right now - all the control knobs in place (and they move just like the 1:1) ...still just taped together at this point - wont actually mount the gauge cluster & radio until after I paint the dash panel, and that might be a little while yet. |

Thanks guys. The control knobs are not exactly "correct" - they should be flatter on the back side, but I figured these would work out ok... and a lot easier to make. here is a pic of the dash from the real truck - obviously a few differences... the radio in the 1:1 is quite obviously not the stocker - the styrene one is pretty close to what should be there however. the 1:1 had an empty hole when I got it - had to do something. I tried to locate a proper stock bezel for this truck - wasnt happening...those that had them were not giving them up. and I did add in the knob closest to the steering column on the right...I think that one was for switching between the dual fuel tanks - mine did not have that feature, so it was a blank - never did care for that, so i took the liberty of 'fixing' it on the scale version...lol | |

I think the dash and knobs came out and if anyone says something just tell em you switched out the knobs from a 66 or earlier truck lol. Keep up the great work!

Holy Cow - it has been a while since I have updated this, hasnt it? Well, wait no more! ***UPDATE!*** So, where were we - oh yeah...dash... the scale version, painted and more or less ready for installation - minus the cracks that the 1:1 had ... and a mockup inside the truck - from drivers side... and looking in thru the rear window (this one is my favorite)... didnt even think about it, should have taken one from the passenger side, similar to the 1:1 pic...oh well...maybe later. Not real happy with the dash pad color tho - it needs to be darker - gonna have to take a look at the LHS when I go in next... |

| Re: 1967 F-250 - Headquake inspired wood build Thanks, n00b! quite the compliment coming from a scale master like you! Ok, been very damp around here so no outdoorsy type stuff happening - worked on the Ford a bit instead (a good thing, right?) have spent many an hour thinking about how to mount the mirrors I made to the truck, and what to make the mounts out of... finally got it sorted out in my head, time to make it happen. Some thin brass flat stock, drilled and bent for the body mounts... the same brass flatstock, trimmed to a very narrow width (a little under 1/8 inch), bent to wrap around the brackets, drilled and trimmed to length for mounting the mirrors to the main brackets... the teensy tiny drill bit used to drill the holes...that is a standard size straight pin in the picture... and the assembled brackets/mirrors with body mounts and "bolts" for attaching the body mounts (cut off straight pins that will be glued in)... What you cant really see is the "rubber" sleeve under the little brackets that hold the mirrors in place - made with some small heat shrink tubing. I couldnt quite get those clamped tight enough to not slide around on the bracket so I had to do something - this is as close as I could get to the "real deal". now trying to figure out how to make a scale "nut" to "hold" the mirrors on (they dont really need it, but for appearance sake)... |

Check this site out Scale Hardware, the world's finest scale model fasteners they have some tiny scale hardware and imitation hardware. I bought some of the. 5mm imitation bolts and they're tiny and well made and they have fast shipping. Nice job on the mirrors by the way.
