Update:

Have had a lot of build time lately. Figured out how to flip the front wheels around like I wanted to without the tires rubbing.

Found some longer wheel studs for the hub. Then cut some brake line tubing to use as spacers between the wheel and hub. Worked perfectly.

Also was searching Google for inspiration and finally came across a 1:1 Chevy crew cab that kinda shows the image I have in my mind of what I want Bruticus to look like. A square body Chevy - deuce and a half love child. I'm even debating on scratch building a military bed for it.

That's all for my not so update. Til next time. Thanks for looking.

Flipping the front wheels around with the spacers and longer studs looks much better!
The pictures of the deuce and a half with a Chevy truck cab look pretty good too.

Agree. Like how the wheel is looking. That 1:1 looks massive!

Thanks guys. That cross breed Chevy and a half definitely is huge. I'm more looking at the grill, body, and bed. The wheels and tires are too big for my scale. I would probably have to run 2.2s to match them.

Redo:

Notice how I really never showed a pic of the back of the cab. This is why. It looked like crap. The rear cab was made of two thinner styrene panels glued together to make a thick one. The heat from the glue ended up warping and distorting the whole panel, but I said it was going to be covered by the bed so I went with it. Day after day of looking at the ugly it just had to go. So I made a new panel using one thick piece this time and carefully glued a thin piece to it to create the stamped look.

Still looks like crap but at least it smells a lot better lol.

Update:

One 3.25mm sheet of styrene. The first piece to Bruticus's new bed.....

A M101 military trailer turned truck bed.

Lots more to come......

Update:

These just came in the mail. RC4WD 100mm scale shocks. Found these for a steal on eBay. Got all four for $20!!!

Just added a few drops of 3-IN-ONE oil and they're good to go.

Update:

Started scratch building the M101 truck bed.....

Got the floor, bed walls, and fenders glued in place. Now all that's left is rear tailgate and details. It was actually a really simple build. All square cuts so far. I kinda think the wheel arch for the bed is too large compared to the front wheel well. Might cut it back some.

Also mocked up a front shock to see how it looked. I'm liking.

What do you think? That's all I'm gonna do for right now. Til next time Thanks for looking.

Update:

More progress on the military bed.

Installed the support ribs for the bed side.

Bed looks right at home on this beast.

The M105 bed does look good on this. I normally don't like them on bobbed deuces.

Thanks friend.

I agree. I actually don't like bobbed deuces. I think they are meant to be a 6x6. Not a 4x4.

Update:

Not much done today. Fabbed some simple shock mounts using square tube I had on hand. They look ugly so I guess they fit this rig lol.

Thanks for looking....

Update:

Not much done. Finally figured out how I was going to install the rear shocks.

The Yota 2 axles came with 4 link mounting brackets when I purchased them. They mount right under the leaf springs. I used those brackets as lower shock mounts.

For the upper shock mount I used half of a leaf spring mount. Turned out upside down and soldered it to the rear crossmember.

Turned out looking like I wanted it to. Happy!!!

Update:

Every big beastly rig needs a big beastly bumper.....

And this is going to be bumper overkill.

I'll just let the pictures tell the story......

Oh....and it still not finish.

Enjoy.
