I'm planing something similar like that to my SCX10 but might add a 2speed transfer case ....

paint started. I was mucking about with my spare range rover body and tested the charcoal on it. I like it but thought it was too dark for the light color of the montero, so I swapped the color layout. Someone mentioned this scheme before but now that I see it I like it.

rover test paint

montero paint started.
I really struggled with the bodywork on this one. I was obsessed with making it perfect. Doesn't help to have sebringMGB (who built the white 4runner) as a regular at the gtg's, lol. I finally just had to let it go. Its pretty good, but not great when you look closely. I'm sure the new owner will still be thrilled though.
still have some touch up and the black trim to do as well as paint the light buckets.

thanks!

painted the details.
installed the lenses at the front. still have to make the rears and the rear buckets. not 100% certain on the adhesion of the front lenses...
started installing the LEDs.

Let me tell you, the kit www.rclighting.net put together is truly exceptional.

painted wheels gloss black as well. just didnt look right silver

edited the original post but wanted to put it in front of everyone again. I misnamed the lighting manufacturer. rclighting.net donated the [very complicated] lighting kit and I have to tell you it is a wonderfully put together kit. Top notch work. I have a lighting kit in my, er, Froaders ford crew cab by rc-lights.com and while a good kit, doesnt compare to this one. Exceptional work Vic. I also have to say, even from the UK shipping is quick too and very reasonably priced. I bought a kit from him for my Pajero Jtop and am very happy with that too.

No real updates (at least worthy of photos, lol). Trying to sort out adhering the lenses. My Goop is a little too thick and having trouble sourcing Shoe Goo for some reason. Considering using CA but worried about the lenses popping off on impact, a likely occurence. more to follow.

I hope I didn't miss it, but when do the raffle tickets for this thing go on sale? Originally you were saying it would go up in May, has it gone already?

no, you havent missed it. They haven't gone on sale yet. haven't been able to finish it. Not much left to do really. Need to do taillight buckets, install head/tail/turn/sidemarker/reverse lights, glass, make steel bumpers/sliders/wheel arch exo, install winch and fine tune it...

lol, my point exactly.
And to be honest, I've been distracting myself with the other builds I'm doing. My mom has been in the hospital a bunch lately, all due to complications from Her kidney failure (diabetes related), so I haven't been motivated to even think about anything else diabetes related...I'll get back to it shortly. I have been tinkering with it a bit (got the tail light lenses in finally).

I think the paint looks real good and the headlight lenses came out close to perfect.
Sorry to hear about your moms health problems, my family and I send our prayers and best wishes.
