Got some work done this weekend.
I finally decided on how I want to mount the servo, but could see some clearance issues.
This should take care of those.

Then the servo mount. I cut, notched, drilled, and tapped a piece of 1/8" angle iron.

I left the 4 link installed to get the steering link length right. That way I could make the panhard bar the same length. To help eliminate bump steer. Some temporary all thread links for now.
A simple tab drilled and tapped 3mm locates the panhard to the chassis. SSD's panhard/3 link mount that comes with the housings works perfect. It puts the axle side panhard mount in just the right spot to keep the panhard as parallel to the steering link as possible. Also helping to prevent bump steer.

All that makes for a complete steering roller, and I could not resist zip tying my electronics in and taking it for a spin around the yard. It handles pretty well, but its definitely got some more motor coming it's way. I may just throw some gear at it first and see, but it needs a little more speed.

I still have the rear cage, and some bracing left. Also trying to decide on body panel material, and how to mount them along with battery mount and removal.
Here is a peek at some scale touches I have in mind.

I wanna get one of those KOH light bars. Just haven't stepped up. How is the body roll In the corners on that? Mine if I'm not carful will roll in the corner... Sway bars are on the list...

Body roll wasn't bad at all. But none of the electronics or battery are where they'll be in the end. I'll have to see how it handles once everything is in place. I have yet to find a sway bar that performs to my liking. So I try to avoid them when possible.

To those of you that don't already know. The light bar and radiator are from the recently discontinued axial EXO. They shouldn't have done that. I frickin love my EXO.
To anyone out there that hates there exo, send it to me I will give it a good home.

OK OK already everyone know already you make some sweet ass cars! And to make matters worse they perform as good as they look! After getting a chance to drool all over that rig today I think you should wipe off my saliva! Look into dinky rc cheep seats.

I tried the hot racing one on my wraith, and then my bomber. The set screw that hold the arms to the torsion bar either back out, or strip out. Or both.
Might just be my luck though.

Yeah, yeah. Thanks bacon.
I think the dinky seats are still to tall. I'm going to have to do a 2d interior for sure. There is just not enough room for a full interior.

Thank you sir.
Give it a shot. It's not as hard as you'd think. And with your skill level you'll have it down in no time.
It literally took me about 6-8 practice joints from never doing it in my life to being decent at it.

WOW, Looking good buddy!!! If your going to go with 2-D the twin Hammer driver/interior might work for you. And I was complaining about so many joints to solder. That servo set up you came up with is very clean.
Is your scale sand rail going to be next?? I have my old B4.2 buggy and a dune buggy body with the same wheel base, the wheels have been turning.

Well I'm not sure. I'd make sure your center of gravity is as low as possible first, then start tuning on your shocks. Some stiffer springs and/or heavier shock oil. I prefer a drooped suspension with soft springs and thick shock oil. By thick I mean I've been playing around with 1000wt. Diff fluid for shock oil.
Also lower gear ratios help a bit. And of course good throttle control.

Thank you sir. I will look into the hammer interior for sure. Do you have any dimensions on it?
And the more I look at this rig the more I think I may have over done it with all the tube work. I keep trying to tell myself that there are no real lives on the line here.

I have a couple rc10gt that I've converted to brushless. Ive been thinking of making one of them into a rail for a while now. But I'm thinking a full scale project might be next on the list.

It is 5 1/4" side to side X 4" front to back.

Great thread ! I have been wanting to try my hand at brazing for awhile and you have answered alot of questions that I did not even know I had. Rig looks great. I think my first try will probably be a honcho cage. Something much less complicated to get my confidence built up. Thanks for the schooling.

I'm just running the stock ratio that comes in the scx10. The ride height at the bottom of the belly is 1 3/4 and the top of the roof is 8 7/8.

In this rig I am currently running stock ratio up front and underdrives in the rear. I will probably switch to underdrives front and rear eventually. I run underdrives front/rear in my wraith. It slowed it down a little, but I gained torque and driveability. Better control.

While a lower ride height will lower your center of gravity. It doesn't stop there. Where the weight is located on the rig has alot to do with it to. If your going for higher speed u4 style, I would say you want your weight low and center bias. If you want good lower speed crawling, I would say you want it low and forward bias. That's just my opinion of course. I am far from an expert. I am still learning as I go.
