Plastic. Its basically a stock axle. Which is plenty for rear steer. You don't need as sharp as the front for steering. A lot of guys set rear to only go 75 or 80%

Oh and on the remote winch. Its a pia compared to using channel on radio. And range is garbage.

Thanks, I'll think about it. I wanted aluminum for strength. It's a heavy rig. I agree I don't need to have as sharp of steering as I do in the front.

Well, it would be a wired controller.

So upgrade if something breaks. I never broke a plastic one. Have you?

I didn't run my plastic knuckles and hubs up front very long before switching to aluminum. They're a common thing to break, especially the knuckles. The Bronco is a hefty rig. I wouldn't want to break one during a comp. If I do rear steer, I intend on having aluminum knuckles and hubs on the rear right from the beginning.

My tundra is 8.5 pounds and I ran plastic all summer. Broke gears and drive shafts but never knuckles. Never broke them in my other 2 axials either. Guess I didn't know they were a common breaker.

I thought you would say that. Yes, you can read on other build threads about knuckles breaking. Even if it wasn't common, it's still a part of the truck that gets a lot of stress put on a little bit of plastic. If I do rear steer, I plan to have some aluminum back there. Please, let's not add any more chit-chat about it to this thread. Thanks

I found a picture of a 1:1 Bronco I had for a little while. It was a 1973. It was rusty and in need of much life to be breathed back into it, which I did not do and ended up selling it. It did have some nice parts.... Ford 9" rear end, Dana 44 front end, 302. Fun to remember.

This is an awesome build man! I just picked up an AX10 and was wanting to convert it into a scaler but I wasn't sure if it was possible. Now that I see that you did it, you've got me motivated to get on it!

Awesome! I think an AX10 makes a great scaler. Check out the x-trail frame at tcscrawlers.com. You can use your stock skid plate, and cut up your stock frame plates to make shock tower extensions so you can use your AX10 shocks without doing full droop. Or do something totally different... Thats just what I did.

Cool man, thanks. I'll be sure to check it out. I'm pretty excited to be getting back into R/C after a few years, but I was a nitro guy so this is a whole new learning curve for me.

If you've got the HPI Bronco body that has a top over the seats and some cage in the back, that will fit a SCX10. You can also use it on an AX10. For either, you shouldn't have to do any fab work. The Bronco body on my truck is for a Wraith; it didn't ever have a roof or top because a stock Wraith has a cage.

I recently decided to stop driving class 2 and sell my class 2 truck, a SCX10 with Hilux body. Before I sold the truck, I harvested some of the good parts from it so I can put them on the Bronco. Among the parts are aluminum c-hubs and knuckles, CVD axle shafts, MIP driveshafts, another CC BEC, and a Savox servo with 200+ oz/in torque. Needless to say, rear steer is on its way. I parted out what was left of the truck and it's about all sold at this point. I ordered a winch controller and some LEDs from tcscrawlers.com. Hopefully time will permit and I'll soon have more updates to post with these goodies installed!

I am sorry to hear that you are dropping out of the class to rankings josh. But at least you are still around with this rig. I have always liked this truck and it sticks to the rocks like glue.

I am so sad you are dropping class 2. It's my favorite class.
