Thanks! I can already tell you that this has caused me to catch the scaler bug and I'm already plotting my next build. It will be a Jeep Brute built from a NB JK body.

Well I ordered more batteries today from Hobby King, plus a new charger. I'll have 3 2200mah 2s batts and a 1800mah for the truck, and a separate 800mah for the winch and lights. That should keep me rolling all day.

Also, the first round of body paint started tonight. Who loves orange? ME!!!

You could do the wheels themselves. I think you can strip that crome with oven cleaner

I don't know man, I would say leave them as-is or darken the spokes maybe. Regardless it's gonna be the brightest thing on the trail for sure!

Looks good brother! Reminds me of one of my first scalers, the first one I actually had some build time in (i.e. other than dumping a body onto a chassis...), which was also a NB Jeep TJ. I fully removed the doors and dumped the entire floorpan, and that was also (like yours), my first experience with styrene, and I agree, very fun and easy stuff to build with! I like your cage a lot, simple, the way I'd really build a Heep if I was going to, I never got around to finishing my cage, nor did I finish my planned tube doors...

Moral of the story? Awesome Jeep, keep it up, and never sell or trade it off!

I'd also say those mirrors are going to snap off like something that snaps off really quick and easy... it has crossed my mind to hack mine off and make a mold, make some rubber ones and mount them with a small screw underneath. Just an idea.

I agree with your mirror theory, and frankly I've toiled with just hacking them off since a rock crawler probably doesn't have mirrors anyway. But I just can't bring myself to do it. I guess they are gone stay until the trail removes them for me.

The carpet is a small felt fabric with a sticky back from the local craft store. It came in a 8x11 sheet for $1. It is made by Creatology. Cut to fit ( I did mine in two pieces, and press it in.

Pretty satisfied with the carpet. I decided to Velcro the seat and console in place. Needing a good platform for the adhesive on the Velcro, I decided to try usi g hot glue to actually fill the console and the bottom of the seat.

Well it works remarkably well and provided a great bace to stick the adhesive side of the Velcro to.

It is amazing what a few coats of flat black paint can do to roll cage. The paint is very good at hiding small imperfections. Plus, it just ties everything together. With the roll cage painted I decided to mount it up using some screws through the fender wells. I cannot tell you how happy I was to see the roll cage painted and mounted onto the Jeep body. Although I realize I have a lot more to do, especially the electronics, seeing this really made me feel like I have accomplished something so far.

You're a complete stranger and yet I'm still proud, lol. Whether a first or your 10th build, your Jeep is turning out great. Being your first makes it all the more impressive.
