Harley, are you going to do burly tubes on the rear? I am HUGE fan of non rotating mass/weight down as low as possible to help keep the roll center as low as possible.

Harley, I just went to rcbros.com to order burly tubes but they are out of brass.. What are your thoughts on the aluminum? Is there a big weight difference?

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build No, I don't like to add weight to the rear. and shafts for the rear may be tricky with the stock width as you'd have to use a Wraith or XR lockout for the splines. I also don't like to add a bunch of weight to the rig just to lower the COG, I like to try and place the items I must have in locations that will optimize the COG.

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build There is a considerable weight difference and I do like the weight it added. I just sent Will a text and asked him on an ETA for the brass versions. I'll update in here when he gets back to me.

I applaud you for taking the time to make this instructional video. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to do this modification on this build. I am building an scx10 and have already installed some nice used Vanquish front end parts |

It definitely would have been "easier" to just upgrade knuckles and C hubs with bolt on pieces over time. But I really love this mod! Last edited by Harley; 01-02-2015 at 08:25 AM.

| Re: Harley's $50 SCX10 Deadbolt Budget Build I think the steering angle is probably very close, both likely can reliably run 45° or a little more. I like the adjustability of the Wraith style splined C-hubs as well as the options available for the knuckles. I will be changing the plastic pieces out for the VP Scale knuckles and Clamping C-hubs down the road. |

Harley, you have an ascender right? I have a g6 kit that I built a few months ago right before the ascender came out. Its nice but I would really like the better steering that this mod with xr steering offers or the ascender has out of the box. I can't afford to have both rigs. So here's my dilemma, I could sell the g6 with the unused stock body and tires and the rest of the leftover parts. Then Take maybe less than $100 and buy the ascender kit. Or I could put $75-100 into the xr mod in my current kit and stick with what I have. I'm aware of the r&p problems the ascender is having and that doesn't worry me. They'll get it figured out. And I know the aftermarket support isn't there yet but I'm hoping it will be. I like the looks of most everything except the body on the ascender. And I'm not a huge fan of the scx axles. Although if they would make an scx width ar60 I'd be happy. And probably stick with axial. My question to you is, do you think it would be worth it to switch to the ascender? Assuming aftermarket support catches up. And the rig sticks around. Is it a good stable platform that may offer more than the axial? In my limited knowledge, it looks like it does. I do not have a stock of parts for the axial yet either. |

HOWEVER, if I could only have ONE truck I would choose the SCX over the Ascender. IF the aftermarket support catches up, then maybe it would be a harder decision but right now and with what I see on the immediate horizon, I'd stick with the SCX.

I bought Howard's battery plate the same night I saw it on your build. You also put on the same bumper about a day after I ordered mine. So I'll consider us almost even but it's cool that I get to tag along, I literally have the money waiting till your next episode to get ideas Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
