Great video! Good information on areas many of us would like to see. I'm just trying to justify a $449.99 retail purchase plus tax. I already have a Yeti Rock Racer. I do want this but is it justified different performance to a Rock Racer? I just love the look and the scale performance so much!

got mine locally yesterday, $399

haven't gotten a chance to drive it much but definitely not worth much on 2S. gonna try to re-gear and run 3S.

Ordered one...... um, for my son. Yep, for my son.

I went through RPP Hobby and used the coupon code. Basically got 10% off with the coupon.

Anyone put a different motor or do a pinion/spur change in this yet? I want one but i've read some people aren't happy with the speed out of the box.

I read the same stuff about speed 'out-of-the-box' and after I ordered for my son, I warned him that "it may not be that fast".

Well, the FedEx man delivered my son's today and we immediately threw a 3s battery in it. We felt it was plenty fast. It is a really fun truck. We had a blast with it today. The looks and the feel of the truck are great! A few weeks ago I ordered a kit Yeti with the intentions of putting a TT body on it when they are available. I have the Holmes BLE ESC and 540 XL in it. We had plans of a MMP and Pro4 HD for my son's RTR but seeing it out of the box we are just going to use the RTR stuff until it gives out.

We felt it has plenty of top speed. We both agreed, a very kick ass RTR.

**One note: difference between the RTR and kit that annoyed me the most were the kit's steel steering post and bearings versus the RTR plastic post and plastic bushings. Shit tons of flex in the plastic posts and one was stripped out of the box. Crap.

Pics. Took to Baja this weekend loving it. Did 60t spur and a 18t pinion, picked up a little extra speed.

Took the Black Friday deal from RPP and ordered one up. I was going to wait until after the holidays but the deal gave me an excuse to pull the trigger.

To go with the order I got a MadSkinz yeti bag and some Kbess limiting straps. I plan to get a pair of Venom 7.4V 5600mah 60C batteries to power the truck.

Got a lot of plans for it, I'm pretty excited!

Dude save yourself some coin and get some SMC Batteries. you can get two 7200 60c batteries for less than the cost of one venom. Factory Spec 7.4V 7200mAh 60C Deans

Don't buy Venom, you're just paying for the name. Unless you're the Gucci type, and want to show everyone how much money you spent.

Don't by Turnigy either. Mine failed right out of the box, and they have no return policy, so I'm out $70 instantly.

Lectron Pro is good, Peak is good, GeForce is good, and I have experience with multiples of all these. Never had any of them fail.

I'm running a Lenctron Pro 7600mah 65c battery, and it runs at a scale top speed for these trucks, which would be about 120mph. Way slower than my Extremely modified Slash race truck, but it's not meant for that kind of racing, it's meant for scale playing out in the dirt. I did change my pinion from a 16 to a 20, so we'll see how that works out next time I drive it. I too want more speed, but also realize that speed breaks parts, and this truck was not designed for high speeds.

Also keep in mind what accessories you may put on the truck. The led light bar I have is rated for 2s, so I'll probably keep it 2s, and work with batteries and gearing to get what I want. A 3100 is a stout motor, and has plenty of torque to give up for a higher top end. I run a 2400 in my Slash, and have a stupid big pinion on it, and it works great at the track. With a 3100 you should be able to get decent speed with 2s.

Thanks for the advice, I ordered them off of amazon a few hours ago so that boat sailed. When I got my wraith a few months ago I was looking for lipos and people seemed to like them and they weren't as expensive as other brands. The whole battery thing is mind boggling to me so may rating and brands, I'll probably take your guys advice next time I'm in the market for batteries... live and learn I guess.

I'm planning to do an "all-rounder" build with this truck (bashing/trail/even light crawling) much like what I use my twin hammers for now. I want to do a bit of everything with it, even if some of those things are things it wasn't built to do. 2 speed transmission will be a must.

@yellowdatsun

I love your light set up on your truck, especially that front 5 bucket light setup.

Yeh, I'm really pleased with the front light setup:

The upper led bar is unbelievably bright. It's like a bunch of flashlights all on at once. You could easily drive at night with just that bar on.

Changed my pinion from the stock 16t to a 20t, and still running on 2s. Now it has the right amount of speed, and can still lift the right front tire off the ground when mashing the throttle from a dead stop. a 20t pinion seems to be just about perfect.

Can anyone measure the height of the stock tires and wheels. Already looking for replacements and I haven't gotten it yet!

Regards

1-5/8 by 4-5/8, approximately. They ride on standard size 2.2x3 short course style wheels.

We have three 510's, a built 71 2dr with a VG34E, a half finished 72 4dr project with a VG30E, and a 73 2dr track car waiting to get worked on that will have a VG30E turbo.
