Traxxas found an easy way to make money and they won't stop until people stop buying. They make flashy boxes and YouTube videos and sell their sub-entry level vehicles at pep boys and make a killing. They are good at this and I don't see them moving away from it anytime soon.

If they were to make a nice race vehicle, would you ever consider buying it? I wouldn't.

A lot of people want Traxxas to build an 1/8 scale vehicle like the slash. It would be even more bullet proof than a normal 1/8 scale

Yeah, that's what I said.

I think it has different a-arms though. Those parts didn't match Slash or Pede.

I'll probably wait until I see a rolling chassis on Ebay and pick up one of those. Then again, When I'm in the LHS and see something shiny I tend to have a hard time saying no. I still think it will be a run truck. Bigger than a Twin Hammers (which I wished would have been more rugged and larger). Heck, if you really want, I'm sure someone could stick a solid rear axle under it, cant' be too hard.

I like Traxxas. They make great products, and there is nothing wrong with giving a new look to an existing platform. Makes good business sense.

What I don't like is the throngs of rtr/bolt-on throttle jockeys they have created.

Traxxas kick the ass off of every other large RC vendor out there. Customer service is insane. Products perform (basher, not racer). I've been given more free crap from their CS than I can recall. No they don't have something totally new at all times but their rigs work well and take an almighty beating. For the record I have a S4x2 VXL, S4x4 Neu1512-1y, Revo MMM2200 and Rally VXL and I still love beating the crap out of them all. That being said. I'd never buy this damn Jeep wannabe in a million years because a S4x4 would kick it's ass in every application other than a Jeep shell look alike competition. But the bean counters at Traxxas are good at what they do and if they have to sell this kind of rig, in which I have no interest, in order to keep the coffers full to pay folks to continue to provide me with phenomenal service for my old rigs...so be it. Traxxas rocks.

The real question is, will there now be 11 pages of adds in rc car action instead of 10?

This is probably Traxxas' worst Idea yet.... They need to come out with something new based off of NOTHING they have made before... They should make something worth racing right out of the box...How about a 1/8 Buggy or truggy? Who Cares tho.. I have my DRX VE Now..

Don't hate because it won't require bling to be durable.

*opens wallet* HEY! I have 2 cents too!

Are axial and traxxas really that far from eachother in quality? Saying axial is junk just because of the xr10 is like saying traxxas is junk just because of the a-arms on the Maxx series of trucks. Bump into a wall and there is no saving them. Bottom line is both companies design rigs to stand up to the average user yard bombing at the speed of a brisk walk. Want to throw in a 3s and drive it like your mother in law owns it? Better shell out some cash for some upgrades. Why would compainies build vehicles that can't take a beating? For one reason: to sell parts. As a store owner would you want to sell vehichles that never break and never make money on parts or sell vehicles that break and owners come back for parts? Take the slash 4x4 vs the scrt-10 for example. My scrt-10 stock has a factory aluminum "lcg" chassis, un complicated reliable drivetrain, and steel driveshafts whereas the slash 4x4 is opposite in every way. For me this new traxxas truck is just another way for them to sell parts. What ever happened to that narrow version of the summit? That seems like it would have filled this spot a lot better.

Yes, I know I'm going to get some flack from the fanboys for saying this, but thats what I get for being able to think for myself.

No one said Axial was junk because of the XR10.

Then there's the gearbox on the xr10. There's no way axial didn't know the gearbox was not up to snuff for what the truck was intended for. Lucky for all of us they made a hd set at the tune of $20 a gear.

I didn't even get into how many traxxas parts were used on the first crawlers which helped rock crawling get to where it is today.

Ok I'll be more specific. You generalized that Axial was lower quality than traxxas due to the xr10 gears while overlooking any faults traxxas has. Happy?
