Any ideas what I am missing?

Never mind, figured it out, there is an option on the menu you have to change because its a different receiver than the one that comes with it.
Make sure it's in the correct mode. Cycle the remote power. Hold the remote within an inch of the RX.

I'm a little confused (normal). The instruction video puts the dig onto DT2, not SW2, right? And I guess like Tom, I find that awkward to use.

I assume if I looked inside I would see three wires going to DT2 and I could cut and extend those wires to an aftermarket 3-way toggle placed at my convenience. Is that what we're talking about here? Are there other options?

The slide switch is what I am planning on modifying. I believe it will work but haven't done it yet, just a lack of time.

Yeah, but maybe an added toggle would be better as it would allow you to use a double momentary action, (assuming that's a good thing). In any event, is my understanding of the process correct?

I will check and see if the wheels are the same. I custom machined my wheel adapters.

Harley, thanks for all your advice.
This past weekend was the first field test.
Setup and feel of the radio was just excelent.

Now just to make the wheel look like a Land Rover wheel.

Harley, I gotta say you've done a amazing job on this thread, thanks.

I love my 4PL it's a great radio. I'd like to pick up a smaller receiver for my 2012 comp truck, what would you recommend?

38 pages of info, you should be done about when the 4PL shows up

Most of the really good info Harley links on page 1 though.

Futaba 4PL Setup, Tips, Tricks & Help

I run the 2106GF in my Berg and a shaftie with no issues at all. It is about the smallest of all the compatable RX`s.

Thanks igbrandy, not much differance in sizes actually, the 2106GF looks to be the smallest.

Yeah/but -- note the cables run out the end instead of out the top. That might matter to your fit.

Testing another new smaller RX. No external antenna on this one, just internal. No info on when/if this will be available here.

Default Help please

I am trying to program my 4pl for dual esc. When I go into the dual esc menu it says under the mode (no sw). I can't find in the manual how to change it. I also watched your videos on setting it up for dual esc and noticed another difference. Again on the dual esc menu just above the front, rear,4wd stick figures my screen says switch and I can't figure out how to change it to dt/dll. Do I need the program update?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Adam.

You seem to have found one of the first release versions. We put out an updated software after the first batch. On the first post of this thread there are instructions on how to get yours updated for free. You just have to ship it to Futaba.

Default 4pl

My question is what to look for when I get a 4PL to tell if it is one of the latest radios with update in it or a older one that was laying around? You have done a great job telling about the use of the radio. This thread is the main reason I am looking to buy one. Thanks BOB

The first post of this thread has a link on the details of how to tell. Its the serial number on the left side. If it starts with B010 or B011 it needs to be updated.
