Sad update.....
my 470, bit the dust!
totally shocked, gave no warning. Was crawling through rip rap with OPIE, and the PM just stopped working, seems bound up . Got it home took the top off and all looks well, might be a bent pin. I emailed John and he replied within hours, I am dropping it off at the PO tomorrow, he should have it Thursday.... I will update then. I did go through a Holmes HV500 even faster, OPIE is quite heavy, and the foams have incredibly great grip with my Hyrax's May need that 2290 on this truck

What is the tooth count for servo arms on the 470?

I received one the other day and installed it in my 10.2.
Of course its a bastardized truck with multiple things going on.
Im not that impressed after a comp.
Now there might be other issue causing this.
Im getting chassis lift from turning one way and then squat when turning the other way.
I think the geometry is off somewhere. Need to address that then try again.
Might just go Axle mount and be done with it.

Well interesting update from John. My 470 works perfect on the bench. I saw his video, and am baffled.
So I don’t have the first failure. I’m totally clueless about what happened. But it is on its way back, that is incredible Service, thanks John !

The servo moves the drag link, left and right. If something is the wrong length or in the wrong place that could occur. I suspect a bound link or pivot

Mine died this past weekend, I was so pissed because I was singing its praises. Turned out a stick wedged its self in the wiring and pulled apart the connectors.

Hope yours works right once reinstalled.

The torque it generates is real, I assume your running a 3link with the panhard setup ?

Hope he gets it squared away for ya. Sounds like you may need even more than 470oz. Which sounds crazy to say but after all, “Opie” is a highly modded Wraith, saw some awesome vids of it on the rip rap which seems brutal for catching a tire and causing binds with certain suspension setups.
Gratefully, I haven’t had any issues since the release, recently switched over from the 1.9 Hyrax to the Axial BFG a/t ko2 with some CI foams. Haven’t weighed my 10ii with a 3cell inside but I’m sure it’s not as heavy as this rig.

John grabbed it when it came in on Friday. He ran it thru a testing routine, even sent me a video of that part. Checked all, even power board, Was going back out in the mail then. I can’t say what happened, I would swear to it that a mechanical bind had occurred , due to that rip rap.
I’m running a Super Shafty, RR slipper, and it works well, I may back it off a tad more

All BIG DOG stuff. If the trans is handling the power which I’m sure it is if your using his 6mm output versions, (have you seen the 8mm version he just put out!? Holy hell) I wouldn’t let breakage of another part force me too de-tune (totally just my opinion of course) I hope you give it another shot and proves just as good as the last ones. I guess the 2290 is always on the table but with a big price difference. I never thought I would spend $100 on a servo, only after getting into crawling did I see failure after failure of units, they never break in my bashers esp. with savers. Thanks to you and other members of this still strong and thriving website I’m glad I went with ProModeler and will continue too.

I’m running the 5mm, and have had zero issues driveline wise. I do have a lot of weight on the front end, I’ve thought of removing my knuckle weights, but I’ve had no cvd issues though. I’m baffled by this episode, but oh well

Currently waiting for my DS470 I arrive... Excited to replace the temporary Traxxas 2056 and go trailing without breaking something. Went out with the 2056 yesterday and went full throttle towards the v of two logs, broke something inside the servo. Still spins though lol.

Got mine back from John, seems smooth as ever. My only thought is I must have banged it enough to shift the pin, then when I opened it up, I “reset” things. Oh well, John did send a coozie with it. Installed back in OPIE , works perfect, now it’s raining so off to watch college football

I was watching NHRA on TV in the other room, missed a call, went in and had a voicemail from John, to call him back ! that was a surprise, he was shocked also , after the video. Told me to not touch it and send it up to him, he will get it Wednesday
