Well, I ponied up and got me a cup of this ProModeler 470 kool-aid on the way!
Can't wait to throw this in my 10 lb wraith and watching it wiggle on the rocks
And yeah if WT is backing it, I definitely take a gulp
Now the wait till it gets here, which shouldn't be to long, as made my order @ 10am and by 2pm I had tracking info

My wife is learning to drive her pink vw Scx10 and with the hand wound motor and the v4 promoddler her rig is whisper quite and outlasts me and my son on the trail and at comp. She has given the servo a real world test for a fact. We have several of the promoddlers and will be converting to all 470's asap

And Mike you also have been very vocal about this little gem of a unit, which helped to soothe the $100 "sting".
- BTW, like the way ya threw the "amazed" word in your previous post. I wonder if White Trash spilled his kool- aid a little- kidding WT, hope I am amazed though!

I do like the V4, it's not a crazy powerful servo but it does the job. I had originally stated that the V4 didn't have much return to center power but once I reconfigured my steering setup and swapped a few things around its fine.

It has my kool-aid stamp of approval so buy with confidence.

The 2290 is only $40 more than the V5 and it's damned near silent so I don't want to hear any whining about it either.

It has arrived...

I ran out of conformal coating, which should arrive Monday. I can't wait to try it out.

Why the conformal ?
A dab of dielectric grease on wires out and around the spline. Already o ringed , I believe circuit board is potted.

Looking at this picture again, it looks as the lower half is smaller, gears are same (so as tough) motor shaft must be smaller ?

Good call. Since its o-ringed everywhere including a grommet for the wires now, plus the spline shaft, I just did it for extra protection. I made sure all the screws where tight too before putting it on. I guess the board could be conformal coated up for the utmost protection, guess you can never be to safe.

What do you mean by the board is potted Mike? Please excuse my ignorance. Lol

Potting epoxy is a type of epoxy that encapsulates the board. It's more durable and from what I've read in the past more permanent.

Default ProModeler Servo: 420oz, billet case, o-ringed, $79

Thanks Spoo !

I read in the original specs how the boards were covered in potting epoxy.
That's the part that needs protection, the o rings have to protect the motor and pot.

Thanks for the info @spoo76 and @mikemcE

With the potted board, o-rings everywhere they need to be and with a dab of di-electric grease on the spline and wire housing this should be more than sufficient to take occasional creek crossings. Taking full submarine cruises for 2 minutes I probably would not try though.

Waterproof servos are overrated. It's a good feature to have and it's such an inexpensive cost adder that all servos should be waterproof, but in my experience it's completely unnecessary.

I don't own a waterproof servo. I've still submarined all of my crawlers with plastic case servos and aluminum case servos and not one has failed due to water damage.

Oh well in this case a tear down and a conformal coating WOULD kinda be pointless. Glad I opted on just a few dabs of the grease. Thanks for the picture Mike.

I'm going to pick up a TRX-4 here by the end of this week and grab another 470, maybe the decals will be ready than? I'm not impatient, just figured you'd have the scoop.

I would guess another week or so, then a SASE envelope sent to John, will work

Mine should be here any day, ordered on the 8th.

Ordered a Mamba X to go along with it, will now have electronics for 2 kits, HH PP 3500kv/Mamba X/ProModeler 470 and HH PP 2200kv/Mamba Monster X/HH SHV500 servo.

The latter setup may be sold, or built up with leftover stock Bomber kit parts bolted to a Xtreme Racing RR10 G10 frame rail kit:
