Running a couple HH brushless sensored motors in my SCX10 II and TF2 and really dig them. Never used a brushed motor but want to try one in the TRX-4 I just built. Got a little overwhelmed at all the options for brushed motors on the website. Could use some help selecting a good motor for my TRX-4. Looks like the "pro" models are the higher end and that's the direction I'd like to go. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Pro motors are the handwound. 550 Torquemaster Pro 21t or 27t is the easy choice. I actually run a Trailmaster 550 sport in the brushed rig right now, works pretty good for the price.

Shoot sorry but have a follow up question. When placing the order online to wants me to select "motor rotation" and "motor timing". Sorry about the newbie question but not sure what to select in the two options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TRX-4 is reverse rotation. 6 degrees is always a safe bet for better brush life and great brake strength .

I showed the holmes Hobbies website to a coworker this morning since he is looking for a new brushed motor. As 90% of Québec crawlers i meet, he never heard of Holmes before... So he was asking what is the performance difference between the trailmaster sport 550 21T and the Traxxas Titan 550 21t. Here in Canada the Titan motors are pretty standard since they are 20$CAD on Amazon.ca. Must have been answered a million times but i can't seems to find it for him. Anecdotally - I have a HH Trailmaster, YeahRacing Hackmoto V2, and a 'Dynamite' stock Vaterra Ascenber motors, all 35T, all 540, in 3 different Ascender rigs - I cannot tell the difference, other than the YR Hackmoto seems to be the fastest. They all run silent, all run cool, and all put out about the same power. I run HW1080 ESC's in all of them. Since John Holmes is part of the community there is a lot of favor here for running his products, and his service and warranty coverage are second to none. So that's why you see them mentioned so often. And nothing wrong with the Titan motors either - these are all basic sealed can motors - use, abuse, and replace. They are not rebuildable, and all work well in a wet or dirty environment, verses a higher-end open end motor with replaceable brushes. You can search youtube for John's vids and tutorials on motors - good stuff! |

If he's interested in what Holmes specializes in have him look at the Crawlmaster motors (5 slot motors), thats their specialty IMHO. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 04-17-2018 at 10:55 AM.

Is the purpose of wiring in a JST lead on one of your ESCs so that you can run the external BEC off that without splicing into the battery leads? Sorry, I'm kind of old school |

I use 2 JST leads on my esc plug. 1 for the SHV500v2 servo (straight from 3s, no bec) and 1 for lights at 12v. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

So, I'm building up a Wraith based Rock Bouncer. Looking for suggestions on a brushless motor/esc set up that will provide the same sort of "antics" in terms of wheel speed and power that you see in the 1:1 rock bouncers. The rig (without the motor and esc) weighs 6.6lbs with a 3s 5000mah pack, which is what I intend to run. 32p 57T Spur, and 32p 10T pinion. 38/13 ring and pinion in both axles. I would also consider brushed since I have a spare BR-XL ESC in my parts bin. But again, looking for some pretty "insane" power and wheel speed. Let the suggestions begin! Thanks! |

Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro 540-L 4100kv should be pretty insane but i think it dosen't fit the wraith. I guess any puller pro standard over 3500kv? Quote:

yes, 3500 puller 540 on 3s or 4s would be the one. I specifically developed the 3500 in the wraith to maximize power in the limited space.

I couldn’t believe the 3500 on 3s for awe inspiring launches, with a bombproof(5mm) and MIPs! I Now understand the need for 6mm outputs on 4s. I don’t see much difference between it and my ProHd Tekin, but my PullerPro isn’t the XL, so that alone is inspiring can size power. Hang up and Drive
