I was looking up specs on the Hyp Z3025 I got from you a ways back, and have no idea what turn they were, do you remember?
Looks like they came in 6, 8, 10, and 12T varieties.
Thanks!

Huh, imagine that, it's stamped on the motor, 8T.

I'm using the Hitec 805 servo's front and rear.
1) What size (mah) 3s lipo pack would you recommend?
2) Do I need another BEC, or will one handle these servo's at 6+ volts?
3) Should I drop down to 7t or 6t pinions to take advantage of the increased voltage? I was running the truck on 6c 3300 packs
4) Recommend a charger with a built in power supply around $150.

Thanks.
Hey DeaDShort,

I am running 2 FXRs on my Hustler with 8t pinions and 2 hs5955tg servos with one CC BEC. It runs great with a 2200mah 3s. The wheel speed is perfect and tons of torque. I am getting about 45min of hard crawl time out of the batteries. Also that is with 55t motors. Just wanted to let you know. I do have a couple of vids that show it working if you want.

I was running 2 7cell 4500mah nuckle packs, but made the switch to lipo, WOW, I will never run Nimh again.

-Will either novack crawler esc & Fxr handle these 454's with 1500mah 11.1v 25c lipos?

-Is it possible to fit the 454's onto the clod by both using (400 to 540 adapter) and Thunder tech adapter together or need something different?

-I am trying to go for a clean look, don't really want to do extreme bending of the lower links just to clear the motor cans.

-Any other recommendations?

Hope you can help out, my Electronic Guru.
The 454s are just a hair shorter than a 540, because of the adapter plate. They are smaller in diameter.

The FXR will take the 454s, not sure about the novak. I don't recommend 3s use with them, as they will heat up fast.

You would use the adapter plate that comes with the motors, and the thundertech plate for pinion adjustment.

I would just bend the lower links

I would give castle a buzz, I have no clue what could be going on. Maybe try hooking it up to a Castle link to reflash the firmware?

If the FXR cannot handle the 3S lipo with the 15/20/25T, i am assuming that your esc can?
My ESC can handle it, but the FXR would not. It is only good with a 35t motor on 3s.

It is just like any other roar motor. Internal ceramic magnets. If it meets the price requirement, it will work.

A handwound is wound by hand. A normal motor is machine wound. Handwounds will have more power, keep higher rpm under load, and have more torque too.

That is a standard Tamiya/ molex connector.

There was a firmware glitch on the first batch. I should have just under 100 ESCs in the first batch once it is fixed.

I dont' have any experience with the brushless in the losi mini. I do know that the sensored motor should be more controllable at zero rpm, but one of my drivers said the Castle system worked extremely well for him.

I can't really give good guidance on that particular selection.

Hello Mr. Holmes,
I am on your website and I need to order the Castle BEC. I see that the most common voltage setting it 6V. I just want to make sure I order the correct voltage for my setup.
I am running a ax10 with the following:
Tekin pro 45t
Tekin FRX
Hitec HS-7955TG servo
3S 1500mah 25c lipo

Do you still suggest the 6v setting?

Thank you for all your help. I will send the order once I know what to get.
Thank you,
Steve

Default zapping magnets

ZAPPING MAGNETS HI John kinda new to this hobby, but just woundering what the term zapping magnets meant? Someone told me that it increase the magnet strenght. If so then how is this done and what would I need to do it. I'm using a stock 550 can motor in one of my boats and there are no timing adjustments to improve the performance of this motor basically a throw away motor please elaborate on this thanks.

Default Zapping magnets

Hi John I'm new to this hobby and heard a term used the other day. Zapping magnets, it's suppose to increase the strenght of the magnets. Is this possible and what is it? Can this be done? What is needed to do it? I am currently using a 12t 550 silver can motor in my boat and looking to improve the performance. I know it is basically a throw away motor but any tips you have to improve the performance would be much appreciated thanks

I do indeed suggest 6v, it would be good for everything.

I would probably get a sidewinder or FXR, depending on space and budget.

A zapper is a machine that puts a huge magnet force on the motor to pep up the magnets. You have to have a machine to use it, I don't have one. Don't know anybody that does actually, they are a dying breed.

I will use my 1300 3s 25c for comp use (the lipo warms up) or 2200 2s lipos for playing around. 3s makes the motors get very warm to hot.

The 454's will stall out more than a stout 540, as they are smaller and do not have as much power.

DAAAANZ, You have to be able to take the motor apart to zap the magnets correctly, because a steel slug has to go in place of the armature to get the full effect of the zap. Since that motor can't be taken apart (easily), it pretty much can't be done. I know of people that have zapped motors with the arm still in the can, and it doesn't work so well. Don't ask me how I know......
