Don't get me wrong cause yours look sick but are bead-locks in the works at all? I personally hate the need to glue the tires to the rims. What materials are you planning to work with? Aluminum or plastics? |

Not looking at true bead-locks right now. 3D printers do plastics very well. Rigid fully functional plastic parts direct from the printer. We can make the rim with a slightly enlarged rim diameter to make a better friction fit. Currently working on easy projects. Once I have the machine I will be able to learn what is possible concerning tapped holes. It should not be an issue. But I've given up on my RC4WD rims. I mounted a set of tires on them, being very careful not to over tighten the screws, now at least 3 screws are locked in on every face. May as well be glued! lol As far as machining the hex... Looks like you just cut it with an end mill. Leaves smaller flats for the hex to fit into, but it seams to work. |

What size alen head do I need For the rc4wd beadlocks because .05 is to small and 1/16 is too big I even tried t4 and t5 star bits? You wouldn't happen to know would you?

It's .05" but the screws are very poor quality and you must use a high quality tool, not a worn out one. ;) Good luck is all I can say...

idk if this is possible but what if you make a 2 part rim.the red(spokes) could be one part and the blue(wheel body i guess) could be another part. an advantage to this is that id be easy to put your own offset. sell just the wheel body and make multiple offsets of just the spokes |

I am really interested in this. I have wanted a new set of rims for mine. As far as a slightly larger rim make them in the size of the sumo micro crawler. I used a set of those wheels and did the DANALLY wide mod on them. They are just slightly larger than stock mcrc wheels. I mean enough that they hold miclaws with no glue and even in hard binds.
