Then you get points for each bumper, 1stinger and 2 winches - saying that both have a winch mounted on them and are functioning.

I remember someone bringing this up at ECSC 2013, but are you allowed to add or remove parts between courses? Parts that affect performance.

| Re: 2014 scale rules discussion or question thead If you are referring to scale items, no. Scale points are given for every course, so if items are removed technically it is cheating, because you already received points for those items you no longer have. Or is there something else you are referring too?

I was wondering almost the same thing. Mainly pinion changes, switching from 3S to 4S depending on the course, shock or link adjustments, etc. Not removing scale items, but "tuning for performance" between courses. Or....You start with your set-up, and stick with it to the end? |

In the rules it says that your frame including bumpers has to be a minimum of 3 inches longer than the wheelbase. Does this dimension include the stinger? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk |

Does not include the stinger, only bumpers. It would be too easy for someone to skirt the rule if the rule allowed the stinger to be included in the measurement.

I'd like to see a rule in Self recovery that the winch must be hook and unhooked by the driver only.. I say this because at the SWSC I saw some guys getting help and others not getting any IMO the penalty for self recovery is the time spent doing it plus the points. Thoughts ?

In a 1:1 comp the spotter does all of the rigging duties. I see no reason to change that in our comps. For a guy who doesn't have a spotter just ask. I helped a lot of folks out at swsc.

I think if you have a spotters help then that's fine, but you need to pick your spotter before you start the course and the judge cannot be your spotter.

Are the points for metal interior cage awarded just once at 3pts or for a suv would you get 6pts, 3 for the front seat and 3 for the back seat? Anything extra for a cage in the cargo area?

Interior cage or exo-cage: -3 metal, -1 plastic per row of seats or area where seats would be (vehicle doesn't need an interior to get these points). Cage must have down bars and cross bars in front and behind each row. Not available to tubers. So to answer your question, you would get -3 for the front row, -3 for the rear row but not any points for the cargo area since it doesn't protect the seating area (since it's a cargo area).

I apologize if this is not the place to ask this question... but... I just saw this: It is a Ford Excursion gone Mad Max! JD3 Rockzilla - It is street legal & registered! I would love to build a scale version but my aim has already been to build a Class 2 or 3... I can't afford two more builds! Please, would this build be able to fit in Class 3? Maybe if I added flair-half-moon-fender-things that flex with the axles & steer with the tires; would that allow qualification? Aside from dimensional limits, what would be the areas in need of address? ...Cuz that thing is SIC! |

Class 3 all the way! Just need to make sure the inside of your tires are no more than 5/8" wider than the side of the body at the cab on each side. Sliders don't count. That and make sure you cant see the electronics, since this has no body panels to cover stuff up ya know. Would be a pretty cool build, something different for sure. Even cooler if you run leaf springs |

opening doors and hood - this means it only counts for one? My rig has opening doors, hood, and tailgate - am I dealing with 1 or 3 points for that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

| Re: 2014 scale rules discussion or question thead They are all separate items so you should get -3 for all of them. You are limited to -8 for the functional items so get them however you can.

Those -8 points are pretty easy to get and I'd rather see someone use their imagination rather than just buy a bunch of crap and hot glue them on.

I was recently running a gated course for practice and a question was asked. This particular gate was a side hill. Vehicle had to winch through the gate to keep from rolling over. The winch cable was pulled over top and touching the uphill gate marker, but the rig made a clean pass through with no touch. Does this count as a cleared gate? Or penanty for winch line touching? |
