Dovetailing the rear *a truggy/tube bed that is narrower than the cab counts as a dovetail* (1/2 the width of the widest part of the cab).

Taken right from the rules, meaning the narrowest part of your truggy at the rear bumper area must be 1/2 the width of the bed minimum.
If you can fab something up and bolt it to the rear stinger that is a minimum of 3.5" wide I think you'd be okay but I think the zip ties have got to go.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Wow... I was the informer yesterday btw.. I just wanted to help ya out. I seen the pic and noticed immediately the discrepency. Figured I'd let you know even tho all ur "guru" buddies should have done that since the beginning. As we can all pretty much assume this isn't the first pic of the truck that was ever taken or first time it's ever been seen.

Yeah I've posted alot of pics of it, I just need to know if I'm allowed to BOLT on a bumper that will be wide enough to make it legal and allow me to run. I don't want to drive 5hrs one way to be told "too bad you can't run"

I'm sure if you bolt somethin on to fix it. It will be fine. John and John (rckcrwlr, and jesterspec) are more than reasonable. If anything pm them directly and just let em know what's goin on and how you plan to correct it. I'm sure it will all work out. Again was just trying to save a possible bigger headache.

One thing I don't understand tho.... If I'm building a real 1:1 truggy.... Why would I want to build it wide? I mean if I'm committing to such a build I'm gonna build it narrow not wide, and as we scale down why are we controlling the widths of them?

In a nut shell it's to keep an even playing field.

There are rules in any motor sport from Nascar to KOH to Class 2 R/C Scale comps it is what it is. This isn't just a GTG with a couple buddies out on the trail this is competition and some folks take it very seriously, the rules help to even the playing field.

Good luck at ECSC.

I'd like to know who gave you an answer like that, I doubt they are on the scale rules committee.

I'm curious too, does this rectify the situation?

I'd say yes but it wouldn't hurt to pm the event organizers just to be safe.

I would let you run as long as the bumper were bolted on but I'd have a hard time allowing it to run with zip ties to be honest.

Well guess I will bring this up again as I am kinda confused on the front bumper rule for class two.

The grille bar is wider than the chassis. That would be part of the front bumper..

Thanks in advance.
