Cut some spokes out of my rear wheels today, I'll probably do it to the front as well. I think it looks good and the wheels don't flex unless you push pretty hard.
After that I went outside to screw around on my rocks and my second solar d772 servo took a crap, did the exact same thing as the last one. Guess it's time to nut up and save up to get a hitec 7980.

Looking good man. I like the 5 spoke wheels. Your gonna need some motors soon.

Thanks
My motors are doing alright so far, but they are slowly loosing power. I need a different servo before I'll do motors though.

Little update, I got annoyed since I kept destroying servos so I let it sit for a while so I could do other things. But today I got another servo, (just a d772 that I'm running at 6v now, I'm seeing if it'll last since the 2 I burnt up were on 7.4) put it in and crawled for a pack and it did pretty good so I got excited about crawling again.
That made me want to do some tire work so I siped the small lugs, cut off some of the side lugs and probably dropped around 10g for all 4 tires, I still need to shave the sidewalks too.
Here you can see siped lugs left and unsiped right.

Went and ran a pack through it and it did fantastic. I can't believe how much siping the tires helped it climb, I was making climbs easier than I ever have before. I had also flipped my rear shocks so that probably helped too, so I went ahead and flipped my front shocks.
What ended my session by stripping my aluminum servo horn after a big jump, I replaced it with a plastic one, we'll see how long that lasts lol.
Here's a pic of one of the lines I made way easier than ever before, you can see all the rubber on the rock from previous attempts.

Well unfortunately you're right. I basically burnt up my motors tonight, I knew they were going out so I ran them until they were burning hot. Smelled just like a drill burning up. They don't even have enough power to overcome me holding a tire still.
So now I'm on the search for a decent cheap 55t motor. I'm looking at rc4wd motors, or something used off here. I'm being super cheap with this because, well, this is the "cheap and easy build"

On another note, I broke a power wire while practicing recovering from rollovers today lol.

What do you guys think of fireball 55t motors?

I'm thinking either 55t fireballs, 55t Holmes torquemaster sport, or ??? Any one suggestions. I like that the Holmes motors are rebuildable and I can set timing.

Replaced some steel screws with aluminum screws and dropped a whopping 7g. It's something, so I'm pretty happy about it. Now I need to do some cf links/steering linkage, aluminum rod end balls, aluminum locknuts if I can find them, and more aluminum screws. Should drop a few oz.

So I ordered up some 40 series wheels, should be here by the end of the month then I'll cut and shut my tires. I'm still torn on what motors to get though, I'm really leaning towards the hh torque master sport 55t, but I'm just not sure. Guess I'll wait to see what pops up in the classifieds and go from there.

Little update, actually pretty substantial. Got my 40 series wheels and narrowed them up, 1.6oz a wheel so I won't gain much weight switching to 40 series. I also filled my front case with all berg gears (thank you Erik!) and dropped 20g over mt gears.

So that picture with the gearbox was with a mt 4th gear, I added a berg 4th and it dropped 8g so the my gearbox with all berg gears weighs 100g.
I went for a crawling session today, lasted about 45 min. I bent a rear link and a tire fell off cause the hex loosened up. So now I get to decide if I want to step up to 3/16 titanium or not.
Only place I got pics was right here, this is also where I bent my link.
