What's the weight savings on the chassis from just swapping to the CF?

I don't know, i forgot to measure...i'll try and look and see how much to the toppers compare out to, then do some math and i can tell ya how much difference.

I do know one thing though, never try and self tap delrin with aluminum button heads...

There is no screw worse than the 4-40 button head! I did all mine in cap head screws since I hated them so badly.

i coulda told ya that one, just tried the same thing a couple days ago and as far as weight savings going to carbon, you're really gaining. i weighed my chassis a while back when i put it together. chassis, aluminum hardware, no servo or trans was right around 3oz, the thickness decrease and the lighter material ought to make this thing stable as all get out. i still can't tell you how it will react being made of cf, i'm interested in your findings on it.

So, the cf topper is about 50% lighter than the delrin topper...the delrin chassis and topper weights 58 grams so the cf topper and chassis probably weighs 29 grams...so i'm saving about an 1oz of weight

Yea i hate the things...i may swap out to flat heads and flat head washers...they have alot deeper hex. I'm really afraid to use alum button heads now

So no new news today, probably won't have any tomorrow as i have alot of stuff to get caught up on....hopefully i can get this thing assembled by friday, and get it wired and painted up next week.

I'm hoping the bully axle conversion plays nice...

i did a rough weigh in with all the misc stuff i have. Sub 5 lbs rtr. I think sub 4 might be possible. if i get crazy with gram pinching and holmes gets the outrunners. I am totally going to make this thing sub 4 if i can. I know a solid 4 oz can be pulled out of the chassis as the stubby outrunner is 3 oz lighter than my tekin and hacking away unwanted delrin and doing alum tranny hardware should add up to atleast an oz.

In short/simple inrunners have a inside shaft that spins, the outrunners exterior case spins. Until holmes project, there wasn't a hobby grade sensored outrunner, but outrunners offer gobs of torque compared to a in runner.

out runners also have alot more rotational inertia, so they can maintain the power easier once they are going...kinda like what a flywheel does on a engine. This can lead to shrapnel though as the drivetrain takes a harder blow on sudden binds

The coolness of the width is cancelled out by the scrub it brings with it...basically the same thing you would get with really wide hubs...right now, i took 5/16" of hub spacing off each side compared to my losi setup...i'll still be wider than stock.

There should not be any more scrub than your losi had if you run your car at the same width. If you run your car wider, then yes but that would have been the same with the Losi.

At the least you dont have to run giant hubs with spacers anymore.

What i meant is that the bully's won't give anymore width without more scrub. The c's/pivot point would have to be moved out...

Gotcha.

I still see a serious benefit in not having to run bigger hubs/spacers. Wider tubes would be ideal though.

Well shoot, I was hoping for the wider width without as much scrub, but it would be nice to not run wideners anymore!

Would an xr axle provide a wider pivot point?

Bottom line, you need to move the C hub out. It has nothing to do with the axles or the knuckles.
