Got some self stick automotive grade sandpaper, stuck it to the flattest piece of metal I had, started with 180 then 320 and finished with 800 grit.

Go slow and use a figure 8 motion. I finished in a circular pattern on the 800.

I was originally going to chuck it in the lathe, but then decided that was too much work..

Nice! How much pressure do you put on it? Light? Medium? Hard?

I would say medium... Let the sandpaper do the work.

Thanks guys. So does that mean that each time you mount the wheel you screw in the 6 hub screws?

Unfortunately yes. Which is why I don't run caps.

I am thinking about it....just a little nervous that I am going to F them up. Still too shiny new! Ha. But I just ordered the sand paper anyway. I guess that's the beauty of them being relatively cheap. If I screw up I can just buy a single from vp. Or buy another pair for my spare.

Just keep the wheel flat and apply even pressure. Those went straight from the bag to the sandpaper.

Just think of it this way, the first time you run them you are going to thrash those lips anyway. This helps hide it.

I did say that in a earlier post, on my last pass with the 800 I finished by spinning the wheel to give a brushed look.
