lol yeah its south korea so im sure its 60c. i showed him a vid of the current lexan version and he complimented the color (Thanks again Ernie!). i explained to him why it was that color. he then said he was glad he could help make a meaningful car. yeah so im glad it got worked out too. he is a good guy and mistakes make us human. we both compromised and its getting worked out to my satisfaction. next post will have pics of the raw printed cab on the chassis |

Thanks brother! The tires really look great now that they are under a larger body. And trained eyes Will spot some new scale candy on those wheels ;) *another shot giving a view of how perfect the tires sit inside the fenders. It's like that on both sides. Excellent! Looks great! I was looking and it appears you are going to have to lengthen the wheel base for the long box. What are you at now? Wb2? Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk |

yep i had planned on that. right now the lexan jconcepts body is a hair over 11". i might have adjusted to WB3 to get the rear of the frame sitting right with the leafs to line up under the bed to make it all look right. that said i have the front links pretty short. with the new 3D body (11mm longer than his usual bed for 313mm) he said current WB is at 324mm. he also told me the long bed is 19.4mm longer than that! so im looking at a wheelbase of about 343mm when finished! i think that counts as... *looks at fingers, carries the 1* WB6 i have some plans to lengthen the ascender. i almost waited on a CMAX chassis to do this but thought, you know... WHY? taking some notes from you, Mr 'Puter, i'm going to take this ascender into custom fab land! (ok Ernie already did that but now its my turn) Last edited by Shinchu; 08-22-2018 at 08:14 AM. |

haha still not sure im at that level yet, joining metal and metal with fire. might have to join metal and metal with... threaded metal lol but in addition to length i have some other plans too. remember, im taking notes from 'puter ;) and the body looks sweet from here yes. but the grill is... well its no RC Nerds. the whole thing is a little too square. needs some corners rounded and maybe see if i can give the front leading edge more curve. i still need to figure out how to cast this sucker. no way will this survive san diego summer heat. I've been packing it back up in the box and keeping it in my bedroom lol but i really intend on resin recasting for a few reasons. heat resistance, modification while maintaining a "master copy", and peace of mind on the rocks if i smash it i can pop out another. |

I would say get it smooth and then get some plaster and make a mold. Just don't forget some mold release of some kind so you can get the master out when making the mold. For the seam of the mold to get it in 2, wax paper works well. It's not an easy process but will be worth it. Or you could just get a 3d printer and make your own after it gets worn out? |

plaster? or resin? main molds would be done with silicone. and yes mold release between the two halves and on the truck. tempted to pull a master off the raw 3D print incase i goof in the smoothing process. this thing was NOT cheap and almost requires the white glove treatment. as for printing my own... ehhhh i would have to design the whole thing and i have ZERO experience with that sort of thing (plus cost of software and printer, casting is much cheaper). and no, the guy i got it from would never sell the files. |

It will be an awesome time when resin printing and services like Shapeways drop way down. This way we could have a hard body printed by them for a reasonable cost and not have the lines of FDM printing. | |

it could be worse. at least i got anything at all? lol i was skeptical but if this was the only hiccup? i think it was a decent experience. was it perfect? no. but i didn't exactly order from his menu. kinda custom so it was risky. i still need to stretch the bed topper shell to match the new longbed on its way. maybe Mr Kim will include it. we shall see... but yes, its pricey and shapeways can really help from people gouging the 3D printed market. (i was a bit envious that my son's rc4wd complete blazer body was about half the price of mine) Last edited by Shinchu; 08-22-2018 at 02:03 PM. |
